Backup of sharks and the species endangered in the Mediterranean

  • by: Shark Angels

The Mediterranean holds the record for the number of species of cartilaginous fish endangered with in 2007 42% of the species of sharks and rays endangered.
Europe is responsible for 56% of world imports of meat of shark and 32% of the exports (100,000 tonnes per year mostly caught in the North Sea and North-East Atlantic)
Only the white shark and the basking shark is protected in the European Community waters!
Without this large marine predator we go to the ecological disaster (shark allows indirect regulation of plankton which is for 70% of our oxygen!)
Appeal to the European Commission to reduce the quota of catches and protect all species of sharks
