Ban Devocalization Nationwide

Ban the painful surgery that cuts or removes an animal's vocal chords because breeders and pet owners are sick of the barking and meowing.

This procedure creates serious health risks for the animals, including hemorrhaging, coughing, gagging, aspiration, trouble swallowing and problems breathing.

A proposed bill in Massachusetts would ban canine devocalization in all cases except when it' s "medically necessary." Although several states already have laws relating to devocalization surgery, most states do not.

We ask the American Veterinary Medical Association to stop the cruel practice of severing or removing an animal's vocal chords instead of waiting for "state legislature". Veterinarians take an oath to end animal suffering, NOT create it.
