BAN MALE CIRCUMCISION!

Ritual infant circumcision is still practiced in the world today, mostly in the USA and parts of Africa. Most countries do not practice it as a matter of policy, such as Europe, Latin American countries and Asia. In the USA, Female Genital Mutilation has been outlawed, but Male Genital Mutilation (aka circumcision) is still being done. The rates are dropping however as more and more people find out the truth about it, which is it's an unnecessary procedure that does NOT prevent STD's or other infections. Anesthesia is rarely used, and when it is used, it is most ineffective. Please support a ban on male infant circumcision. It's a basic human right to choose...HIS right! It's banned for baby girls, so why not baby boys?
We urge people to start taking an objective look at the ritual infant circumcision and stop the practice of circumcising infant boys in the USA and other countries like Africa that still practice this unnecessary procedure. In the USA, Female circumcision was banned and made illegal, as well as not being covered by insurance. Why is this not applied to boys as well? The myths that 'it's cleaner', 'it prevents STDS/cancer/urinary infections are just that- myths that keep being perpetuated by medical personnel and others who have no real knowledge about the real function of the penis and foreskin. If the foreskin was not necessary, it would have become extinct a long time ago. Mother Nature does things for a reason...and Man seems to think he is smarter than Ma Nature. Not quite.

Retraction is the biggest source of infection, and if it truly prevented STDs then they would hardly be in existence in the US as most adult males living nowadays are circumcised. It also does not prevent cancer of the penis.

Most male circumcision operations performed today are done with either no anesthetic or ineffective pain measures. Some 'pain meds' used are sugar water (does sugar really dull pain?), EMLA cream (which doesn't work) and a block that is usually not given enough time to become effective. It is a cosmetic procedure only, and an excruciating one at that. Babies that have been circumcised have trouble breastfeeding, sleeping and develop a lower threshold for pain. Babies have been found to sense pain more keenly than adults. Circumcision can make babies go into shock, which is why some parents mistakenly believe that their baby 'took it just fine'. Then there is the risk of infection from MRSA.

Please sign this petition to get the word out to others so more people can challenge the mainstream attitude about circumcision. It was wrong for baby girls, and it's also wrong for baby boys.
