Ban of Non-Biodegradable Plastics

Every day thousands of pieces of plastic be it bags, bottles, lighters or toys land in the ocean.  Whether it blew off a boat, the shore or was washed in by rivers and streams.  This plastic is floating in the Pacific ocean and is the size of TEXAS.  It isn't going anywhere but round and round and its hitting the beaches of NW Hawaiian chain of islands.  Fourth of July weekend the Coast Guard removed 32 tons of Marine debris.  A lot of this is our trash.  There are alternatives out there, lets use them and save our corner of the world.
We the undersigned petition that the state of California lead the way to banning the use of non-biodegradable bags and containers.  The state of California has always been a leader in so many ways and in so many things and we feel that in the interest of the planet and our children's legacy that we as a state ban non-biodegradable bags, bottles and containers.   They are poisoning the environment they are endangering fish, mammels and birds.   This trash is accumulating in the middle of the Pacific and it's coming from our shores, our trash and our rivers.   The albatross and Hawaiian monk seal are being threatened by our plastic bags and bottles.
We thank you for taking the time to read our letter and petition.
