To finally put an end to circuses and educate the public about the animal abuse and just who works for them. Ex-cons, sex offenders and pedophiles are just some of the employees that Ringling Bros employees, along with sadistic 'animal trainers' like Sacha Houke guilty of beating his own daughter. This is a petition that will be sent to Ringling Bros, Feld Entertainment, all their corporate sponsors and any newspaper when the circus rolls into their town in an effort to get them to give up exploiting animals for entertainment purposes. We the undersigned request that you immediately stop using animals in your circus. This is an outdated and abusive form of entertainment whose time has come. Other circuses, like Cirque de Soliel, are world renowned for their amazing list of talented entertainers and we want Ringling Bros to follow suit. Aside from the extensive and well documented abuse of animals you also have a long history of hiring undesirables like excons and homeless people which is also well documented. Thes are major concerns for the public and should be for you.
Jim Barnum, the founder of the circus you now run, once said 'There's a sucker born every minute' but now that sucker is you if you think people will continue to pay money to see tired and abused animals do stupid tricks when they can go see or rent the dvd of Cirque de Soleil and be really entertained. As long as you continue to use animals your once good name will be tarnished forever.
Finally we request the following:
* Stop using animals in your circus and let them all retire to santuaries for all they have given to your bank account
* Only hire talented people who don't have criminal records

Please, please stop the cruelty to these innocent animals. In a world where we are so aware of animal rights, it amazes me that these poor animals are caged and chained traveling from town to town, state to state, only to be released for a short while to be whipped and abused in order to entertain uneducated spectators. In a country where we fight to save the African Forest Elephants from being trapped and killed, how can we allow such inhumane acts to happen directly beneath our noses. Bolivia has put an end to circuses with animal acts... Greece is trying to do the same as well. How can we be so far behind? Please put an end to this violence against our innocent animals. Peace. |

Humans never cease to amaze me. Just because we deem ourselves the most intelligent species on this planet does not give us the right to treat animals as most of the world does. They have just as much right to happiness and peace as we do. They should live as nature ended for them too, and if that is no longer a possibility for certain animals, they should be provided the best life we can possibly give them. That does not include spending most of their lives in chains and cages, being beaten to preform "tricks", and deprived of the respect that they deserve. That is what most circus animals live with everyday. The condition that these animals are often kept in is horrific. To them, this is a real, live, horror show that they have no hope of escaping. It isn't ethical, it's not moral, and most of all, it's not humane. No one wants a life filled with such pain and sorrow, not even animals.

I think that the appauling conditions that the poor animals at circuses have to experience is simply disgusting, not to mention the ridiculous and un-natural behaviours they are forced, or more to the truth beaten to do. All animal circuses should be stopped. There should be no exceptions.

I learnt about this sad case only recently. It is however difficult to believe that this has been going on for years and even been a court case. And still it has not been stopped. You should think US can do as well as Bolivia who recently banned wild animals from being used in zoos. Austria also did so years ago and we still have a lot of fun at cirusses :-))
