Tasers were originally developed to give police a non-letal means to bring a potentially lethal situation under control; however, modern police use tasers in a much different manner than their intended purpose. An 11 year old CHILD was tasered, a women 8 months PREGNANT, an elderly man calling 911 for help, and a college student that refused to show his ID. I have personally seen a local police officer from his own mouth admit using a taser on a hand cuffed prisoner as punishment for shouting as the prisoner was going through meth withdrawals. Tasers are being used as torture devices, not the non-lethal method to prevent the death of innocents. I humbly submit they be banned under the Geneva Convention rules of what constitutes as a torture device. I further submit that all victims be paid restitution.

This issue is important to me because police-brutality is being assisted with the use of tasers. Getting rid of tasers is only one step but the journey of a thousand miles begins with such a step. I also think of the Civil Rights Movement and how it was successful due to passive resistance. I am saddened to think that such resistance is no longer possible in 2008 due to police taserings as well as rubber bullets and bean bagging people. However. Since deaths are resulting from taserings, I feel compelled to address that first and hopefully the other forms of compliance that involve pain and inhumanity will follow suit. ---> I did not know this petition was here, else I would have never created mine @ http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/ban-tasers-from-police. This is a case of another highly profitable corporation hiding the truth for profits. Why is the Taser company intimidating independent researchers? They openly admit that they are a business and must protect their bottom line. The trouble is that police are for the most part not aware of the troubling results of these medical reports. But some are starting to speak out. Let's hope that more do!

Tasers are a form of torture and should be outlawed. Police have abused their power too much already. We don't need a Police State with torture at their fingertips. I have been abused by Police numerous times and have no record, but the Police just keep coming after me for no reason. I am tired of the abuse of power and their using the District Attorneys to prosecute innocent law-abiding people like me. The District Attorney's get almost all their cases from Police, so they are PARTIAL to the Police. Don't be fooled! When I was 14 and my ALCOHOLIC mother had just married her THIRD HUSBAND he kept following me around my house, asking me sex questions and inappropriately touching me. I reported him and he told my mother "Either she goes or I go". My "mother" chose him and put me in the street! This third husband's name is Charles Martin Parry and lives at 12 Golf Course Road, Bellport, N.Y. 11713-2322. His phone number is 631 286-0341. Tell Charles and Emily Parry to stop using my Police Family like my Uncle John Roubicek(A Retired Deputy Sgt. at the Suffolk County Sherrif's Dept.)on General Mc Clean Road in Bellport to get my local Police at the 114 Precinct to arrest me for bogus/false arrests. The 114th Precinct is always trying to find any stupid thing to arrest me. This is all about retaliation by my Family for me reporting to everyone what they did to me. Then the 114th Precinct is also retaliating because I made Internal Affairs Bureau complaints since they in the 12 years I've been here have never made any investigations or arrests of the 8 people assaulting me 9 times. I am very justified in making my complaints and it IS illegal in the United States to retaliate against anyone for making a justified complaint!
