BAN URANIUM MINING IN THE GRAND CANYON

Promoting the proposed 20 year ban on uranium mining in the Grand Canyon National Park

We the undersigned declare our opposition to uranium mining in, or near, the Grand Canyon National Park.

Uranium mining produces environmental pollution with long-term risks to all living creatures, including Native populations and wildlife. Miners suffer from various types of cancer and disease related to poisoning from uranium, and these maladies are often passed on to their offspring.

There is NO safe way to dispose of the toxic tailings that result from uranium mining.

The Grand Canyon National Park receives 5 million visitors a year, more than any other national park. There is nothing else like it in the world! It should not be destroyed in the name of financial gain for mining corporations. It belongs to the citizens of this country......ALL of us!!

Thank you for taking the time to save one of the wildest and most cherished places in the United States.
