I am shocked and appalled at the lack of attention batteries have been given in my cities recycling program...Vancouver we can do better!!!

I strongly believe that we should be incorporating the full cost of batteries (including disposal) - we can pay a deposit similar to what we do on bottles/cans.

It's time to take responsibility for the waste we produce, whether it be toxic or simply recyclable.

Almost everyone I know throws batteries in the garbage. We need alternatives, ideally which target single-use batteries, which are not profitable to recycle.

There are so many bettery retailers, and so little accountability. We have a bag full of batteries we've been collecting and trying to recycle responsibly for for two years. If it is legal to sell and put so many battery-operated products on the market, then recycling the toxins required to operate them should also be paramount. Profits are great, but so is a healthy, clean environment. Accountability and responsibility are gravely needed regarding this issue.

I think that single use batteries have been a huge problem for our landfills, and the government needs to take a lead in educating the consumer about this. It is important for us to really realize that the waste that we produce does not just magically disappear!

Batteries can easily be recycled if people make an effort to, they are not biodegradable and will harm the environment greatly if we dont do something about it! We need a better more convenient way to recycle single use batteries so that they can be used in the future! Thank You!

I also wish it to be understood by yourself, fellow voters of conscience, citizens of the world, and PMs, that as a voter I and others of my persuasion will continue to be vigilant on such issues. We will continue to be stalwart in our opposition to any similar legislation that would postpone current and prospective efforts at curbing greenhouse gas emissions, or protecting endangered species and their ecosystems.
