Bear Baiting is Barbaric!

Bear Baiting is Barbaric!

Target:
To help WSPA end bear baiting.
Sponsored by:

I have long been an advocate for the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), Greenpeace and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. My father, who is a Professor in Ecology at The University of Sydney, brought me up to have an awareness of, and respect for, the environment. As the human population continues to grow, more and more animals are in danger of losing their habitat and joining those that have already become extinct. While large scale issues, such as land clearing, logging and global warming are of major concern to me, I am also anxious for the welfare of individual animals, such as the Asian sun bears, monkeys, elephants, sea turtles, sharks and whales. While the outlook may be bleak for many of the world’s animals, there are a few hard-working, kind and rather eccentric individuals who are dedicated to doing what they can to help the animals and the planet.

Thanks to WSPA, many Asian sun bears have been rescued from the brutal ‘entertainment sport’ that is bear baiting. There are many ways to help these beautiful bears: by signing petitions, volunteering, donating and visiting the WSPA gift shop for Christmas and birthday presents. Please sign this petition, it is the least we can do for these long-suffering bears.

These animals desperately need the intervention of compassionate people who are wise in their approach to education and diplomacy. Raising awareness will require the co-operation of the government and local authorities. May these precious creatures soon be free and comforted. God have mercy.

"Animals are now more than ever a test of our character, of mankind's capacity for empathy and for decent, honorable conduct and faithful stewardship. We are called to treat them with kindness, not because they have rights or power or some claim to equality, but in a sense because they don't; because they all stand unequal and powerless before us." This cruelty should stop for once and for all and this is again a bloody shame of mankind. Quote: "We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living beings, humanity will not find peace." -- Albert Schweitzer, physician/Nobel Laureate --

Even the mere thought of bears being tortured in this way makes me physically ill. When are humans going to wake up and stop abusing all living creatures?

The Endangered Species Act is fantastic and a step in the right direction. We now need a new global law that forbids any harm to any animal.(As part of a civilised global world.) Ultimately there needs to be a shift in the values of people across the globe towards a serious respect, nurturing and protection of wildlife and animals in general. To support this there needs to be a focus on healthy eating. Stipulating the benefits of vegetarianism in relation to ecology and the future of the global environment.

This is disgraceful and barbaric. The people who watch this are as bad as those doing it, the only way to stop this awful 'entertainment sport' is if people stop going to watch.

If you punish these criminals by giving tham a sterdy prison sentence if they are caught torturing these poor animals then they are less likely to do it

I still can not believe and I'm floored by how they go about doing this so called"sport", those low lives need to get some knowledge on treating the environment right, poor and helpless bears are not born to suffer for life, can't imagine to think what the little guys go through :0(.. can't believe they pull their teeth out, the poor bears live in captivity until the time of their death all for "entertainment" purposes, don't you low live jerks have anything more better to do, like try and get along with Israel, instead of degarding poor animals and torturing them the way you do?.. I'm so disgusted. I hope, and I believe one day this will stop, we just have to keep fighting for them. God bless you bears.
