"BMX is not a crime" local BMX riders need a safe place to ride!

BMXers in the Pasco county area have the obsticle of not having a place to legaly perform their sport within the community. These atheletes are being arrested for riding their bikes. Its sadning for these riders to hear that the newly built local skatepark wont be including bikes at all. They arent even givin a day or a session to ride. This causes these atheletes to ride in other places where riding BMX is prohibited or illigal. This situation is dangerous to the riders along with the community. The BMXers here desperatly need a safe place to enjoy thier sport with the peace of mind that their riding session wont be ended with handcuffs. "BMX IS NOT A CRIME"

Pasco County Parks and Recreation District:

We the undersigned believe that the BMX riders in the Pasco County area need a place to perform their sport. The magnitude of this situation renders young riders no other alternative than to protest the unjustification surrounding youth being arrested for simply riding a bike. Land O Lakes parks and recreation recently opened a skatepark for the youth but during the planning, decided to not include BMXers into the mix. They do not understand that if the youth arent givin a place to legaly enjoy thier sport, the streets become their playground. this is dangerous for both the community along with the youth. So we the undersigned strongly believe these young riders need a place to ride wether it be through a new public BMX facility or simply incorporating these athletes into the local skatepark. BMX is not a crime and these talented athletes should not be treated as criminals. They are simply in need of a place to shine in our community. Thank you for your time reading our letter.

Bmxing shouldn't be considering a crime. I skateboard, but alot of my friends are bmxer's and it wouldn't be fair to them to lose their passion.

Makes me feel horrible for them. to lose doing what they love? thats like ripping out a part of your soul

this in a safe and enclosed park that allows the BMX riders to stay out of danger from cars on the street . i don't see a problem with them riding on the park as long as they stay out of trouble .

i think it's quite ridiculous to be honest , because the government is suppose to be promoting safer activities for teenagers , yet arresting them isn't helping that . the BMX riders are staying out of danger in the park , so arresting them doesn't make sense .

these kids need a place to ride and enjoy this sport as much as i do. its such a good experience to ride bmx in a skatepark. when there was a skatepark in my town i made so many friends there and met so many new people and got so much better at riding.

i think its ridiculus that these kids are being arrested when there is a perfect place for them to ride but some people are too selfish to let them ride. i think that with all of the new park friendly parts out (i.e. plastic pegs and pedals) there is absoluteley no reason not to let these kids ride this park.

this is important to me because a lot of my friends bmx and they look like trouble makers when they get the cops called on them but they arent they are good kids.

i think it is not cool cause it is showin that who ever makes the rules is pickin favorites and bmx is at the bottom of the list, and skateboardin is just as dangerous as bmx so arrest the skateboarders as well

This issue is important to me because I have a lot of close friends that BMX and would like to help them out.

I think it is ridiculous that they haven't already passed this petition due to riders getting arrested for minimal reason such as skating in parks for you teens to go have a good time and be safe. Where would we rather have these riders doing drugs and illegal things.

it gives youth a chance to express themselves through something that is legal and recreational..

Its insane..their arresting kids riding bikes in a skate park when they should be on the road looking for drivers under the influence or crime in the community. this is blasphamy. they are using our tax money to arrest the youth on bicycles. are you serious.
