PLEASE NOTE: IF THIS PETITION IS GOING TO WORK, IT NEEDS TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AT LEAST FIVE PEOPLE AFTER EACH PERSON SIGNS. IF EVERYONE WOULD DO THIS, WITHIN TWO MONTHS WE WOULD HAVE THE AMOUT OF SIGNATURES NEEDED TO SHOW EDMONTON THAT THE WORLD'S CITIZENS ARE AGAINST LUCY'S CAPTIVITY
Elephants are herd animals that require company in order to be fully healthy and happy.
Even if Lucy is in good health, she would be psychologically suffering in the Edmonton Zoo. She needs to be with her own kind.
She is being tortured in that she is isolated and alone. Female elephants have terrible psychological problems when they are held in captivity alone.
Lucy became the zoo's lone elephant in September 2007, when Samantha the elephant was shipped away to another zoo for breeding purposes.
We applaud Mr. Bob Barker for trying to set Lucy free and to bring her to a sanctuary in California.
We thank everyone who will pledge to boycott the Edmonton Zoo.
