Bring Commuter Rail Back to NH!

Target:
Help us raise enough signatures to petition the S. NH Legislature to sponsor a bill!
Imagine landing at Manchester Airport and being able to hop on the train into Boston!  Imagine landing at Logan Airport and hoping on a train at North Station and traveling to Southern New Hampshire and possibly to the beautiful New Hampshire Seacoast!
Well it's possible!
A railroad company with lines in Southern New Hampshire wants to make a deal with the state to run a commuter rail system from Concord to Boston.

Pan Am Railways CEO David A. Fink wants to start a short-term program to connect Concord, Manchester and Nashua to Boston, and possibly Manchester to the Seacoast. The pilot program would gauge interest in long-term ridership. It is contingent, however, upon using some of the federal economic stimulus money New Hampshire expects to receive for mass transit projects.

Christopher Morgan of the Bureau of Rail and Transit says there is not enough money for the project in the current version of the stimulus plan, but the U.S. Senate could add funding in its version.

The state Department of Transportation's wish list already includes $300 million earmarked to connect Concord, Manchester and Nashua to Lowell, Mass., and the Massachusetts public train system.

OUR GOAL:  To gather as many peitions possible to push the NH Legislature and the Department of Transportation to launch this project!

Please help us make this a reality and bring comutter rail back to Southern New hampshire!

I think the rail connector would benefit both Mass. and NH environmentally and economically.

I urge the legislatures both National and State to bring commuter rail back to Southern New Hampshire. It is good for the state, for businesses and for the environment. You can read more about commuter rail and the stimulus at http://nhbuyerrep.activerain.com/post/925972/Nashua-to-Boston-Commuter-Rail-Picks-up-Steam

I frequently travel between Boston and Concord. I would certainly use the rail line instead of I-93. What a great opportunity for New Hampshire to finally connect central NH to Boston via Federal stimulus assistance! The infrastructure would increase mobility among the car-less (something NH is notoriously bad for), and increase economic mobility for thriving businesses in Concord with easier access to Boston.

I fly in and out of MHT often and I find it's easier to get to Concord NH from BOS than MHT!!! A rail system is an investment in our future.

Commuter Rail service is a definate need. Costs of running an automobile are becoming cost prohibitive for long distance commuters. I wholeheartedly support this endeavor as it will take auto's off the road, reduce carbon footprint and is the right thing to do. Furthermore being productive on the train [reading, wireless communications} is already part of the modern world. It's time for NH and northern New England to get onboard!

I believe that rail service would be a boost economically and environmentally. We could get more trucks, cars off the roads. The new diesel train engines are getting super freight miles per gallon of fuel! A big mistake discontinuing rail service decades ago...

I believe that rail service between Concord and Boston would benefit the economies of both NH and MA. It would also make for less stressful and more economical commutes for those of us who currently travel 3 or 93 every day. Lastly, it would be better for the environment.

With so many people moving out of Masachusetts, to Southern New Hampshire ( - From 93' to the 'Seacoast'. ); it only makes sense, to run an extension of the CR - up to Concord ( As well as from Rochester to Portsmouth & Rockport. ). It shouldn't even cost that much, w/ much of the infrastructure still existing.

For more impact, add a personal comment here Fixing up the line from Nashua through Wilton to Bennington, which is already functioning, would also be great. Then perhaps the spur from Greenfield to Peterborough and Keene could be reinstated. Commuter rail for all!

Yes, I and my family want to bring commuter rail back to NH...the traffic congestion in Boston and the carbon footprint we all leave when each of us drives into the Boston area could be significantly decreased if we extend the commuter rail into NH!!!

There should be rail (preferably high-speed) connecting Boston and Burlington, if not Montreal. This would be a great first step.

Please, this would be great as not only would it help take NH citizens to the Boston area, it would help take the MA citizens to NH to shop (tax free). Thank you.

The rail line would also bring people from Mass to NH to work, visit and possibly shop.
