I LIVE IN NORTHWEST LOUISIANA AND I AM THE VERY PROUD OWNER OF AMERICAN BULLYS OR AS SOME MAY CALL THEM THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER, BUT BSL (BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION) IS ALL AROUND ME AND ESPECIALLY IN SOUTH LOUISIANA. WHY, I ASK YOU? IT IS BAD OWNERS WHO DO UNSPEAKABLE ACTS TO THESE POOR ANIMALS THAT TURN THEM INTO BAD DOGS ALL BECAUSE THEY WANT TO MAKE MONEY OR HAVE A REPUTATION FOR HAVING THE BADDEST DOG ON THE BLOCK. THIS NEEDS TO BE STOPPED AND PEOPLE NEED TO BE EDUCATED THE RIGHT WAY ABOUT THESE DOGS THEY WANT TO BAN INSTEAD OF PRE-JUDGING ALL OF THEM. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK PEOPLE TO GO TO A UKC OR ABKC SANCTIONED EVENT OR IF YOU JUST SEE SOMEONE WITH THERE DOG GO UP AND MEET THE PERSON AND THE DOG AND LET THEM TELL YOU ABOUT THEIR DOG. NOT ALL OF THESE "PIT BULL" TYPE DOGS ARE VICIOUS ANIMALS. IN TRUTH AND FACT, MOST OF THEM ARE NOT. THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE ATTENTION FROM ANYONE AND ESPECIALLY CHILDREN. THESE ARE DOGS THAT WILL LET YOUR CHILD CRAWL ON THEM, PULL ON THEM, HIT THEM AND THEY WILL JUST SIT THERE AND SMILE BECAUSE THEY LOVE THE ATTENTION. THIS IS A FIGHT I WILL BE IN FOR MY DOGS AND THOSE OF MY FRIENDS AT OTHER KENNELS UNTIL MY LAST BREATH. I am in route to LA, and have faced several areas that I have been restricted from because of my loving, gentle, well trained dog (happens to a pit). Some of the reactions are horrifying. I don't read on bans against Labs, or even Chihuahas even though I do know of cases that THOSE dogs bit a child or acted in an "aggresive" manner. Pit bulls are loving, playful, loyal. If you raise a child with love and nurture and compassion and patience, you have a loving child. Beat that same child, talk to them abusively, then , perhaps you have raised an uncaring possibly agressive child that shows hatred and violence. It's not the breed, IT'S THE OWNER.

BSL is just ignorant in my eyes. I am not saying that it is 100 percent the owners fault these dogs are this way. Some of it has to do with breeding, and the temperments of these dogs, and the mixing that is going on that contributes to today's american pitbulls being unstable. Ownership, and socialization is the key, and people are being responsible dog owners. My dad was going to get a puppy, until he found out that his parish or town had an ordinance on pitbulls, that they had to get 100k insurance on the dog, couldn't walk it on a leash longer than 4 feet, and the dog had to be muzzled while walked. Couldn't be in thier back yard along, and if the dog was in the house, the windows couldn't be up! Are you kidding me? I understand that there may have been alot of incidences with pitbulls attacking people, but check the records and statistics, there are plenty other dog breeds out there that are MORE likely to bite than a pitbull, but yet when something happens with one of those breeds, it just gets over looked. First thing when its a pitbull, its plastered all over the news! IGNORANT! If BSL is the way we are going to handle this situation, might as well start banning the reproduction of white people, or black people, or mexicans. All races cause trouble, and kill, and rape. But it would be IGNORANT on our part to Specify one race to be worse than another, and ban the reproduction of that race! LETS STOP THE IGNORANCE!

I have 2 beautiful Pit Bulls they are the best family dog anyone could ask for. I have 2 small children and have never felt like i can't leave them in the room with our dogs!! They are awesome and there is no reason for all of this. IT all has to do with the way they are raised!! Please leave our babies alone!!

BSL is provin to be ineffective in many ways and is biegn turned over in multiple court cases Nation wide. If animial Control would do their job and inforce viscious dog ordiances and leash laws, no teathering, ect there would not be a problem. Plus BSL is Unconstitional as it violates the 5th and 14th amendedment to the US Constatution.

I am the proud owner of a Staffordshire terrier. He is a 70 lb loving, family dog who is as gentle as a baby! It is ridiculous to continue to punish this breed as well as the american pitt bull terrier. The way that these dogs are treated is inhumane! These dogs are abused and fought by vicvious individuals, and the general public tries to persecute them simply based on their breed as well. Bad people breed bad dogs, responsible dog owners do not!

I had an incident recently where a neighbor called the police about my dogs. They didn't want to say who they were or really why they called. So the officer showed up expecting to see fighting dogs in our yard. What he found was just the opposite. All the dogs were secured. There were no worries about them getting loose and terrorizing the neighborhood. He even felt comfortable enough to let us release them for a play session in the large, fenced-in yard while he was there. The officer seemed to really enjoy playing with these dogs(The same dogs everyone else assumes are vicious beasts). If these dogs are raised properly and cared for they are the best pets you can have. The public needs to be educated. Irresponsible owners need to be stopped. To ban the breed would not fix anything. Bad owners will only choose another breed to abuse and exploit.

I am a proud owner of a staffordshire terrier. The breed itself has been given a bad name because of stupid owners. My dog is 70 pounds and can play with my 2 year old nephew without causing a scratch. My dog is the closest thing I have to a kid, and it would take a real idiot to ban such a powerful, loving, athletic breed.

I own two pitbull terriers that are a part of my family. It is not bad dogs it is bad people. People like Michael Vick who make these dogs mean to satisfy thier own need. It is not pit bulls, a dog is what you make of it. My one year old and 4 year old love thier dogs, my one year old learned to walk holding her pits collar. Punish the people not the breed

It sickens me every time I hear about another ban.. for what????? bsl is the new rascism!!!!!! what did these poo animals do to anyone.. except the few bad seeds...and the owners r the ones who need to be delt with not the dogs.... my children were always raised with the pits... and they are the most gentle dogs..and it pisses me off everytime some lame person goes omg u have pitbulls... ugh!!!!!!!!!! this is my breed of choice, and i admire them.... they r beautiful... i am a proud owner of american bullys and pit bulls and if they do a ban here we will simply pick up and move... i hope all bans can be prevented....

Please take the time to get to know the real temperment of the pitbull the breed has never been human aggressive bad breeders who place puppies with anyone who can pay them are the problem, punish these people and the breed in general, your wisdome can only reflect as much as you trully know & learn about the breed once you understand that a pitbull is not born human aggressive your informed vote will be one for justice thank you
