Support building an animal shelter in Hopewell

Hopewell Township, NJ will soon decide whether or not to give land to a local rescue group to build a much needed animal shelter.
Currently Hopewell and Pennington Township euthanize any dog or cat found after 7 days if no owners are found.
A no-kill rescue group is willing to build a shelter to take in these and other local animals. Hopewell will not incur any building or operating costs. The land in question has been designated for non-profit use ONLY by the state.
If you live in Mercer County and believe that a new shelter, built by a rescue group without townships funds, is a good idea please sign our petition and send this to all your friends (especially those from Hopewell and Pennington), via email, Facebook and all other social media.
We need to show Hopewell that we are the voices of Mercer County.
Dear Hopewell Township Councilmen and Councilwomen:
We the undersigned urge you to vote in favor of building an animal shelter off of Reed Rd. This shelter will save countless numbers of homeless and abused animals in Mercer County.
We understand that the land in question requires a public (non-profit) use in order to allow a road to be built between Reed Road and Route 31. Tthere are animal groups willing to build a non-profit shelter without township funds for building or operating costs on this land.
Numerous dogs and cats are euthanized every year in Mercer County. A shelter in Hopewell will not only give those animals the chance of finding their forever homes, but also ensure that as many more dogs and cats are spayed and neutered. Hopewell will continue its reputation as a progressive township, an example for all of New Jersey. The shelter will become a community center of compassion and empathy.
We appreciate your time and hope that you will take the first step to ensure Hopewell Township has an animal shelter.
