Butler Community Urban Garden

Butler Community Urban Garden

Target:
2000
Sponsored by:
An Urban garden in our community would help better Butler County in many different ways. Bringing our community together, and  promoting economic progress are only a few of the reasons why an urban garden in Butler county is beneficial to our community.
Developing an urban garden, rather than a new mall or shopping district, can bring our community together. Through the help of volunteers, friends, and family we as a community can maintain the upkeep of the garden. While everyone is invited to help with the garden, at risk youth will be the ones most targeted for volunteers. By volunteering, at risk youth can have a chance to be active within their community and by doing so will show others that they too can be a productive member of society.
Also, an urban garden in our community will promote economic growth and sustainability within the community. Producing our own, locally grown fruit and vegetables will help our economy progress at a higher rate; if done right. All of the food will be sold at an affordable price, and the money that is made will be given to local charities, and ONLY to local charities. An urban garden will also promote sustainability by showing the community that we can support our selfs and can, for the most part, produce a lot of things that we would usually buy from corporate grocers. Wouldn't you rather put your money back into your community!?
There are so many reasons why an urban garden could better Butler county. An important example of how an urban garden helped a community, possibly an entire state, is The South Central Farm in CA. If, only this once, we can come together as a community and produce something useful to everyone. Take action, sign the petition!
