Calabasas, Join Hawaii and Washington State in Banning Shark Fin Products!

Killing sharks for their fins, is like killing elephants for their ivory
.

Shark finning is the removal of a shark's fins, and the cruel discarding at sea of the rest of the live animal. It is illegal in U.S. waters; but remains a billion dollar industry. It's time to do something about the trade in fins. There are an estimated 80 million sharks being killed annually (mainly for their fins) for use in products such as Shark Fin Soup.

There is currently a debated bill in Sacramento which would ban shark fin products statewide, but a fight is predicted. Calabasas, a leader in environmental issues, can be an example by being the first city to ban the trade in shark fin products.
