Discovery Communications, LLC and their TLC affiliate state, in their mission statement, that they work with faculty, students, and staff to promote instructional excellence, through the use of evidence-based pedagogy, research, and instructional innovation. If this were the case, then they should not be permitted to promote unethical behavior, resulting in a firestorm of outrage over recently released photographs by the Duggar family, 19 Kids & Counting.
As a unified country, we pride ourselves on the attributes and free will to reside under democratic law, which includes the freedom of religion, but when do these freedoms overstep preset boundaries? The Duggars are not only exploiting their children to the mercy of the world, but they attempt to force their righteous beliefs and unethical actions upon their own citizens! Previously mentioned, recent photos of their stillborn child were released to the public, and merciful outcries have gone ignored. In order to cease such conduct from occurring again, I ask that you please sign this petition.
We, the undersigned, ask that you please cancel your TLC program, 19 Kids and Counting, due to their unethical and immoral actions. In your mission statement, you say, you work with faculty, students, and staff to promote instructional excellence, through the use of evidence-based pedagogy, research, and instructional innovation. By promoting their religious beliefs and condoning the release of unethical photographs of their stillborn child, this contradicts your previously mentioned mission statement.
As a family-oriented program, 19 Kids and Counting not only forces unwanted religious belief systems upon unsuspected viewers, but it also goes against both political and societal standards of ethics, morals, and conduct. How is this justified? By canceling TLC’s,19 Kids and Counting, you will prove to the citizens of the United States that you stand by your mission statement and value an ethical, moral, and hospitable communication system from which families can be educated without prejudice.
