Care2: Allow Multiple Gender Options or Opt-Out

Care2 is a champion of progressive causes on the Internet, so why are  members only allowed to choose either "male" or "female?"  We, the undersigned, propose that Care2 make some changes in its gender options.
The reasons to do this include:- To avoid alienating the transsexual, transgender, intersexed, and gender variant communities on the website.  There are people who are wary about disclosing their gender because of the stigma it may cause.- To allow people the ability to be fully honest about themselves in the Care2 personals website.  With only two gender options, we are often accused of deception if we pick either.  It also makes it more difficult for people to find who we truly wish to find.- To allow for varied expression on the Care2 website.
The changes we wish to make include:- Allow an "opt-out" feature for people who do not wish to disclose their gender.- Add more gender options, including "MtF," "FtM," and "Other."  ("Transgender" is not an appropriate option)- In cases where a title (Mr., Ms., etc.) is necessary, such as with specific petitions, allow us our own choice independent of that gender choice.- In addition to the gender changes, the Care2 category "Gay Rights" should be changed to "LGBT Rights" to be inclusive of trans people, lesbians, and bisexuals.
It is our hope that, by enacting these changes, Care2 can be a safer and more progressive place for everyone.
