This petition aims to take account those concerned with the
2011 Yukon Territorial Election, in how the polls were conducted, the enumeration process was handled and the lack of requirement in either for proper identification.
This petition also means to address complaints of the potential for fraudulant voting and of legitimate voters being turned-away.
The undersigned believe that this is due to Elections Act requirements, but also unacceptably lax enumeration and polling station due diligence.
The petition looks for support in seeking basic changes to the
Yukon Elections Act, to counter possible mistakes, voter fraud potentiality, and to prevent legitimte Yukon citizen voter turn-aways.
These changes resemble those already long ago adopted in most other provinces and territories and at the Federal level.
The changes would include the necessity of proof of identification, and what is acceptable and not acceptable thereof, as well as in the way the Territory is enumerated.
We the undersigned,
Appeal to you to address complaints of voter turn-away and voter fraud potentiality in the recent 2011 Yukon Territorial Elections.
We believe that due diligence was not adhered to, and we agree that the possibility of both poorly judged voter turn-aways and fraudulant voting are present.
We feel the Yukon Elections Act itself needs reform to better secure polling results and enumeration in order to prevent such instances and possibility of these instances.
We believe the act to be outdated and in short we want it updated to conform with the standards the rest of the country holds and to the standards of Federal Election voting procedure.
We call on you to investigate these matters and consult general public opinion on resolution. It is more than evident based on our associated videos views, the signatures atttached and in the media and press, that this is on Yukoners minds.
