We the undersigned petition for raising awareness about the plight of child soldiers around the world. Many times these children are abducted by a rebel group, drugged, and taught to kill, usually against their will. Girls who are recruited are particularly subjected to sexual abuse, including rape. Each child has a story and each child has a different way of coping with the terrible atrocities they commit. By raising awareness about their unfortunate circumstances and treatment opportunities and supporting human rights organizations like UNICEF, we can change the world one word at a time. We have a moral responsibility to support these young children. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and I hope you join us in making a difference.

I teach children who have arrived in the US from camps in Africa. These children have dead eyes, do not express feelings in ways expected of chioldren their age. They have separation issues, throwing temper tantrums completely out of proportion to the situation (being accidentally pushed in a lunch line, for instance.) They have many PTSD symptoms, emotional dysfunction and a degree of neediness that goes far beyond their financial situations. They are in public schools where they are utterly foreign to the culture and behavioral expectations. These children are unable to express gratitude for simple kindnesses and have myriad problems. Anyone who has ever eaten a school lunch knows it is no gourmet treat. These little boys and girls devour every bite and, if they run out of time before they are through, stuff fruit and wrapped snacks in their pockets. Children should never have to see what child soldiers and children who are war refugees have seen and done. No human being should have to live through the terror these children have and continue to experience.
You av to raise awareness a child should not hate be trained to kill
If our country truly wants to fight terrorism around the world, this is truly something we can not ignore.
