CHINA BEAR RESCUE - ANIMALS ASIA

Help Animals Asia end bear farming and free 500 Moon Bears!

Thousands of Moon Bears across China are imprisoned in cages no bigger than their own bodies and endure the agony of daily bile extraction through the so-called humane, 'free-dripping' method of bile extraction. This method sees a permanent infected hole, or fistula, carved through the bear's abdomen into the gall bladder, through which the farmer forces an unhygienic tube to drain the bile. But help is on the way...

After years of negotiation, Animals Asia signed an historic agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association and the Sichuan Forestry Department to rescue 500 farmed, endangered Moon Bears and to work together to end bear farming.

Animals Asia has already closed over 41 bear farms and rescued over 197 Moon Bears. Construction of a permanent semi-natural sanctuary is underway and bears continue to pour into our Rescue Centre in China to begin a new life of freedom.

"We the undersigned, thank the Chinese Government for closing the farms and releasing 500 bears into the care of Animals Asia. We ask that you continue to promote the herbal and synthetic alternatives to bear bile and urgently appeal to you to end bear farming by the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008."

A lot of the big business groups are to blame through trading with China whilst this sort of barbarism is going on.

I would donate via the post - I am in the U.K.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged on the way its animals are treated.

China this is a terrible way to treat animals, the world wants’ you to lead the way into the future not into a barbaric past, their are many beautiful aspects of Chinese culture, but, I'm appalled you still allow many bad one's to tarnish your global image, many Chinese people live in my country and they are all respectable, it's not fair to the many Chinese all over this planet to have this image haunt them or the people who are resident and part of your enormous culture, to validate respect and admiration externally we have to practice the discipline of a civilized status internally, many people have love for your great nation, please don't diminish this any further for us, with respect and expectation of justice for animals and humans alike, please end cruelty...thank you

Bear farming is absolutely disgusting. Those poor bears are living, breathing beings. They feel pain and hurt and it is terrible to put any animal through such a horrible procure. Please end it as soon as possible. This is a start, but it needs to continue.
