I am a smoker and do not appreciate the higher prices on cigarettes. It is not going to make people quit smoking.... one idea is to have cigarette manufacturers give out coupons to help defray the cost think about it.......... i for one don't like being told or pushed into stop smoking by these radical and useless nonsmokers

don't vote for any one in office now or anyone that is running for office next term until you are sure he is a smoker and if he or she is not a smoker trow them out of office next term. may all of the ones that cast a vote for yes to raise taxes have bad luck for 4 years!!!

I am a smoker an have been for 32 years. I decided to try electronic cigarettes because it is healthier and also cheaper, but still smoke.. The prices of cigarettes are outragious and will not prevent smokers from using them all the time.. Now the FDA is trying to ban all cigarettes when it is a proven fact that they are safe and effective, plus they contain the same things that nicotine patches and gums have.. and electronic cigarettes which is a crime to smokers, yet all the alchoholics can drink all the time and not get taxed.. I've had it with this country.. Washington is essentially saying "Stop Smoking but Drink All You Want!!?

Raising taxes on alcohol makes more sense. It will keep more drunk drivers off the roads, and save lives in so doing. Also, where is our freedom?

Why should we bare the brunt of all the taxes, they have taxed us to death. Why not tax gold, champagne, imports and designer wear. If they can afford a 60-1000 cloth pants, bag, jewerly and up. Why not tax plastic surgery, and treatment to make people younger. Yeah right. Anyway enough is enough you taxed us several times in a couple years. We know the risk, but then again its the same risks stepping outside and breathing.

This kind of taxation is wrong. The price of the product is less than 5% of the cost of The product, and ya gotta pay sales tax on $45.00 tax. why do we have to pay tax on tax? Its "Theft by Government".

GOVERNMENTS SHOULD STOP USING CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL AS CASH COWS,STOP THIS BLATANT REVENUE RAISING AND OVER TAXING OF PRODUCTS ON THE PEOPLE,THESE HIGHER PRICES WILL NOT STOP MOST FROM SMOKING OR STARTING TO SMOKE,ITS JUST REVENUE RAISING BY GOVERNMENTS SO AS TO LINE THERE POCKETS WITH MORE WEALTH AT THE PEOPLES EXPENSE.

I DO NOT AGREE WITH HEAVY TAXES ON CIGARETTES. I HAVE NEVER SMOKED A CIGARETTE IN MY LIFE, BUT STILL FEEL IT IS TOTALLY UNFAIR TO TAX JUST CERTAIN ITEMS THAT THE PUBLIC HAS A RIGHT TO USE. THE GOVERNMENT IS OUT OF CONTROL ON THIS. THEY SHOULD TAX THEMSELVES INSTEAD.

I agree with "myself" I will also add that being cigarettes are a known physical addiction, this increase is going to cause more crimes. People in this area will kill for a cigarette. When I purchase cigarettes I have to hide them before I leave the store. Its just not right. And I don't know who sells brand name cigarettes for $9.00. Here they are $9.75. God knows I want to quit. But its not that easy. Why don't the politicians up the anty on alchohol. Drinking is also an addiction for many. That stuff can strip an entire family of everything Now what would that be called; second hand addiction?
