Close the Chihuahua Zoo

  • by: Mac McDaniel
  • recipient: Alberto Hernandez, Owner of the Chihuahua Zoo
The weekend of February 5th, 65 animals froze to death in the Chihuahua Zoo when the electricity went out and the night watchmen failed to realize the gas lines were also frozen and therefore the gas heaters weren't working.
Environmental factors notwithstanding, these animal deaths are unacceptable and result from zoos' belief that animals exist only as sources of revenue and not as sentient beings.
Sign this petition if you support the closure of the Chihuahua Zoo.
We the undersigned were horrified to learn of the deaths of 65 animals in your zoo on the weekend of February 5th.
The deaths of these animals is inexcusable and despite placing the blame on unexpected environmental factors we believe that the zoo is ultimately responsible for the deaths of these animals and should be closed.
If you respect our wishes and choose to close the zoo we hope that you can find suitable sanctuary homes for the animals and do not turn them over to another zoo.
Thank you for your time.
