Target:
Joe Birkett
Sponsored by:

TAKE NOTICE that on the 19th day of January, 2010 at the hour of 7:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, the Plan Commission of the Village of Bloomingdale ("Village") will conduct a public hearing at the Bloomingdale Village Hall, 201 South Bloomingdale Road, Bloomingdale, Illinois, on the matter of a special use permit granted to Pet Rescue, Inc. on August 13, 1979 for the property located at 151 North Bloomingdale Road ("Subject Property") pursuant to Village Ordinance #79-23 ("Ordinance").
  In memory of Spats.
Spats came to Pet Rescue in 1999 as a PUPPY and died December 17, 2009 at the age of 11 years old. We had Spats posted hee for several months in hopes of Spats grabbing somebodys attention and finally get a forever home. We continued to stay on top of his decling health reporting our concerns to IDOA, DCAC and Dupage County States Attorney. Spats finally made it out of the shelter but only because he was so sick and to our understanding had to be euthanized. There are still so many that remain in cages. Since PRI lost their license last month the animals have no outlet what so ever. There are still so many of Spats friends also waiting for a home. Peggy Sue has been there for several years as is Cody, Chris Maxx and Elsie.
We will miss you Spats......

I am a former volunteer at Pet Rescue. The only ones that cared about those animals were the volunteers even to the extent of buying food and supplies out of their own pockets. Rarely did we see Penny or Dale on the premises and they only cared about the money. The volunteers were required to sign a confidentiality agreement that they would never say what went on at the shelter. These animals deserve better care and surroundings even if they must remain in a shelter. The volunteers can only do so much without money.

I have worked for these "women" and I use the term loosely - they need to be punished (as bad as they treat their animals). There are few words to describe the inexplicable horrors these animals are and have faced. Believe me when I say the only saving grace for most of them is to die if these places are not closed soon.

I started looking online to adopt an animal in a shelter that still euthanizes, as sick as that makes me, it's almost better that they be put out of their misery than to be stuck in this place. I hope the best for these beloved animals and that Dale and Penny get the punishment that they deserve, a lifetime of cruelty and neglect.

i visited the shelter few years ago attempting to adopt a little shih-tzu. I was declined the adoption. I was a personal friend of a volunteer, my daughter was a vet in the area, and we had a great home for the little dog.We were ready that day to adopt. There was no reason for this. I was shocked to see all the dogs in the cages, how crowded the adoption room was, and how dirty the cages were kept.I was told that the best care they were given were by the volunteers.

The amount of time it has taken for this to come to fruition is beyond belief. When I think of all the suffering these animals have had to endure, I could vomit. Please get them out of there ASAP!!!!! If this had been a daycare that was housing neglected animals, I am certain officials would have been in there in New York minute. If only we could subject perpetrators to the same atrocities they are found guilty of.....Both women should burn for eternity.....

The fact that these people have been allowed to continue mistreating animals this way for so many years despite repeated attempts (by their own volunteers) to have the place shut down should make all residents of Illinois ashamed and furious. Not only should they be shut down and the animals relocated to appropriate no-kill shelters, the department of Agriculture should be held accountable for their repeated failure to take action despite the readily-verifiable violations. They are no doubt stretched impossibly thin, but if this doesn't make it to the top of the list for 30 years, what does that tell us?

These innocent animals have suffered severe cruelty and neglect at Pet Rescue for long enough. They deserve to be freed from their miserable lives in that place. Dale and Penny deserve to live out their lives in the same wretched conditions these animals have endured.
