College Financial Aid Reform

Target:
Make Indepent Students for College 18, not 24.
Sponsored by:
I am 21 years old. I work hard, pay my bills as much and as efficiently as possible, and I pay my taxes. I'm also $17,000 in debt because I attempted to go to college on student loans. I'm wondering why I cannot get help from the government for college when I pay them my tax money, follow the laws, and could easily be drafted, only because I'm not 24 years old, haven't served in the military, and i'm smart enough not to get married so early in my life. Why can't I be an idenpendent student at age 18, when I moved out?
I would highly appreciate your help with this, guys. This rule is stupid, and they're cheating us out of help we kids desperately need for the supposed bright future they claim we're going to have.

I agree this is stupid. I am the mother of an 18 year old who wants to go to college, and I thought we would get grants from the government Oh, I was WRONG!!! Becuase of my current husbands income, she qualifies for NOTHING! I am unemployed, and just lost my business, her father is doing odd jobs and our combined income is less than $10K, but, her step-father is a doctor, so he is expected to pay for her education. I've never heard of such a crazy thing in my life. And, many kids don't live with their parents, and their parents can't help them. What the hell are they supposed to do??? Higher education is a must, yet our country does not make it available to every young adult who wants to go to college...

Thank you so much for your support. I'm sure once congress sees this, they'll realize that their jobs are on the line! They need to know that this isn't right or fair. Keep it up guys!

Just like Nicole, I work my butt off. Both my parents work around 45-50 hours a week(!) in their jobs out of town. I'm always having trouble finding jobs in our economically poor and jobless town. Our family never misses a bill, and we pay the government tax. Even though we always work so hard and pay our bills, I never got any financial aide or support. I've checked again and again, every year applying for student aide, and never get anything. Our family doesn't even make barely enough money combined to pay for community college, yet I don't see any support. How is that all the rich spoiled kids I met qualify for 15-20,000 of free student aide every year? They don't work. Their parents give 30-50k a year to go to some State university(they blow it on partying and useless material wants) and they still get student aide! Meanwhile, because the real students in need doesn't get any support, we have to go around looking for and applying for student loans.
