Connect The G Train To Atlantic Terminal!

Target:
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)
Sponsored by:

Help improve life in Brooklyn and Queens, connect the G train to Atlantic Terminal!

Recently there has been a lot of focus on the G train. We need to show everyone that there is support for better service and more connections on the G train.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has promised Councilmember Letitia James that it would study what it would take to connect the G line Fulton Street stop with the Atlantic-Pacific station, a move that would simplify commuting for tens of thousands of people.

The time is now to tell the MTA that Brooklyn and Queens need this!!!

Here's a link to a recent article on the subject in the Brooklyn Paper:

Please get behind this fantastic proposal with us and help improve Brooklyn and Queens neighborhoods! Connect the G train to Atlantic Terminal!

Why has this not already happened? Going across Brooklyn is such a hassle.

Not only should a free-transfer tunnel be created from Fulton St. to the Atlantic Ave. hub, but do as Paris does. Put a people-mover in it! Lets be as good or better than our European cities!! -Ken

A key connection for my neighborhood.

I have so much work and friends who live off the g train now, and the only way I can get there is usually an overground transfer at Atlantic avenue - totally unsafe and impractical for a woman late at night.

G train kind of wanders around without any convenient connection to any other subway line. Atlantic is central hub, it only makes sense to have the G connect to it.

This proposition would greatly enhance the efficacy of the G train and certainly increase its ridership.

I'm disabled (not wheelchair-bound) and I struggle with transport access in my neighborhood. This change would help me immensely.

This is much needed and would cut down commute time significantly. And more over, it would demonstrate that the city and MTA is committed to improving the mass transit system for all New Yorkers - regardless of where they reside.

A connection to the other subway lines would increase commmuting options from Clinton Hill, Wallabout, BedStuy, and Greenpoint and Williamsburg. These neighborhoods are all on the rise today, and the connection would assist this rise! I understand the G train line was built during another time when neighborhoods along its route were considered up-and-coming; history set these neighborhoods back a bit but they are enjoying increasing economic development today.

It is just plain irresponsible to not make the G a more desirable public transport. Many people would stop using less responsible means of transportation. The G has many problems, but it seems to have less than a MTA exec. Do y'all remember getting the "free fares" as a x-mas present years ago, when the MTA had a surplus? That surplus is now a deficit, so it was obviously STUPID. And our service is still lousy, we have nasty stations, and crazy loud screeching trains. And an abused G.

Not only would this make the lives of myself and many friends significantly easier, I can almost guarentee it would improve traffic to the shopping centers at that location.

As someone who lived across the street from the Nassau Ave G stop for 12 years before recently moving, I can attest to the changes in the train over that time, and the total lack of service improvements even to simply keep pace with ridership. It used to be the train with spilled beer cans and homeless folks sleeping, riding back and forth for shelter. Now it's loaded every rush hour moving Manhattan commuters to their homes in Brooklyn. You know Brooklyn, right? Massively growing population due to migration out of Manhattan? Hundreds of trend pieces a year? Neighborhood after neighborhood growing with new residents and business? Come on, MTA. The G barely gets by today. It's time to step up and serve your customers.

In addition to connecting the G-Train to Atlantic Terminal the City should create a G express train that runs from Astoria to downtown Brooklyn!

A G train connection to Atlantic Terminal would make it easier to get to Clinton Hill/Fort Greene. This would be great for those living in South Brooklyn. Would also help the reverse. People going from North Brooklyn to South Brooklyn.

This is a no brainer - the G at Fulton is so tantalizingly close to the AT, I've even spent time naively searching for the tunnel, convinced that there logically had to be a connection. Creating a link to the lines which run through the AT enhances ALL the lines in question, not just the G.

As a longtime resident of NY living off the F line in Manhattan, I travel via subway all over NY for work, to visit friends, restaurants, shop or attend events. And time and time again, I have to really consider my travel route when forced with using the G train as the only option in parts of Brooklyn or Queens. And it's infrequent schedule on weekends make it a real pain to contend with. Hopefully, the MTA can consider how much it will cost to link the G with the Atlantic station and alleviate G train commutes.
