The D90 has it's hands tied. Help now!

Nikon D90 owners request MANUAL CONTROL.

Target:
Nikon
Sponsored by:
The Nikon D90 SLR has been a breakthrough camera for 24p HD video with 35mm Depth of Field.

While there are many items on our wish list for the VIDEO mode, the one that is most pressing is to have MANUAL control over the ISO and SHUTTER SPEED.
In theory, this can be accomplished with a firmware update from Nikon. Sign this petition to request a firmware update so you can have the control you deserve.

We the undersigned kindly request a firmware update to the D90 which will give us manual control over the Shutter Speed and ISO in Video mode.
Please allow professionals to have control over the tools you have built, and it will only increase the use and sales of this great camera. Thank you for talking the time to read this letter.

Please give us manual controls it is not hard to implement. I'll be jumping ship to Canon soon like many others. What are you waiting for Nikon.

I already sent an email to the german support, requesting an improvement on the video coding an/or compression, which currently degrades the video quality way too much. Any small HD camcorder for $100 does this job better -- it is really a pity that the output of the D90's quality optics and low noise sensor get spoiled by a poor codec.

2008 and 2009 belonged to Nikon with the release of the D90 and D300. The features were unrivalled (Especially Noise control @ High ISO levels) in all APS-C (Crop Frame) Cameras. Canon fixed that with the 7D. The main features of the camera aren't that amazing. But there is MANUAL VIDEO CONTROL right out of the box. That already is the reason why Canon knows they have a winner with the 7D and why people will pick that over a D300s. Nikon can simply counter that with a Firmware Update that allows Full Manual Control over Shutter Speed and ISO (and even some slight tweaking to bring down the Rolling Shutter) and with the upcoming D3s, they would have sent Canon a clear message: Canon isn't the only one that can do Video. We have the capability and the hardware to do it as good as you guys can. As a person who used both Canon and Nikon (I'm using Nikon now), I hope to see a response from Nikon with regards to the dSLR Video market.

It doesn't make sense not to have manual control on a SLR, video or not. It just doesn't.

I own a panasonic hvx200, and bought the D90 with the hopes it would be a good backup. Image is beautiful. Cameras rolling shutter doesn't respond well to quick movement, but that's eliminated by a tripod. With full Manual control of iso and shutter. Nikons led the way in putting video into dSLR and it would put this into competition with canons far more expensive 5D

Adding manual control would make the D90 that much better. I would love to see a firmware update soon!

We know you won't change everything... The D90 will stay the D90, everybody knows that. Then, concidering everyone knows what it can and cannot do, let's go next step and allow people to deeply work with D90 capabilities.

We need manual control. eliminate the flicker, and manual exposure control. You can leave the auto control as it is, but we need to choose it. we need to choose auto or manual ISO or instance. Also is a good idea to choose to shoot over a MJPEG file or H.264 file as other models of your competitors. regards

it will be nice to have AF in movie mode. when using auto ISO the # of pictures left is change to ISO # for some time. capture nx for free it is needed to correct files we pay for the camera enough, canon supplies all software needed. I am sure from so much feedback that Nikon get there is what to improve David

This auto mode isn't understandable. Control manually the d90 isn't something to add to the camera but to remove.

Please! CANON IS WINNING THE DSLR WAR! You need to fight back! Release a camera with XLR inputs, 1080p, and 24p. You have the power of 40 years of lenses behind you, Canon does not! BUT YOU ARE LETTING THEM WIN CURSE YOU!
