WE, ORDINARY CITIZENS, URGE ILLINOIS PROSECUTORS TO VIGOROUSLY PURSUE FELONY ANIMAL ABUSE CHARGES AGAINST LAWRENCE JULIANO, KILLER OF "COCO" THE LAB!   HE MUST BE CONVICTED AND SENTENCED TO A LONG, LONG TIME IN PRISON!

Coco, a 17 year old Labrador Retriever, and precious pet of Alfredo Tamarit, was ruthlessly and viciously killed by Tamarit's stepfather, Lawrence Juliano, of Wicker Park, IL (Cook County) in August 2009.  Tamarit, 30 years old and mostly deaf, usually speaks in a mumbled jumble of words, but the name of his beloved dog "COCO" was one word he could clearly say.  But now, if he calls "Coco", no one comes . . .

On August 15, 2009, Juliano, the unemployed stepfather, hurled the dog off his third floor balcony, as Tamarit watched in horror!  Coco hit the ground hard, shaking in pain until she died a few minutes later.  The stepfather's "excuse"?  Coco was sick, and he didn't have any money to take Coco to a vet or shelter for veterinary care or humane euthanasia.  Huh?  So he THROWS the dog off a third floor porch?  An act of "Euthanasia", his attorney claims, will be his defense.  Euthanasia, a "humane death"?  No way!  His actions were not those of a caring stepfather but of a sick sociopath, a danger to both humans and animals.  He KILLED Coco on purpose.

Juliano was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and animal torture -  both Felonies.  Judge Ramon Ocasio III ordered Juliano held on $50k bail.    Since then, Juliano has bonded out and is walking around "free".  Free to harm more animals and even humans.  After all, it is a well-established fact that animal abuse frequently leads to abuse of humans.   And we know that serial killers often get their start with abuse of animals.  (i.e. Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, etc.)

Thank YOU, Judge Ocasio and the Prosecutor (Cook County assistant state's attorney Erin Antonietti), for recognizing the severity of Juliano's actions and charging him with the more serious Felony charges, instead of a misdemeanor.

Now, we ordinary but concerned citizens urge you to vigorously pursue full and swift prosecution of Juliano on these Felony charges and not to allow plea bargaining or trial delays.  This "man" is a menace to society, and he WILL abuse again, as long as he remains free.

Juliano should be found "Guilty" on both charges and sentenced to the maximum time allowed under the law.  He should receive the maximum fine and it should be donated to the local Humane Society.  Additionally, Juliano should never be allowed around domestic animals in the home again (when he gets out of prison).  He must receive a thorough psychological evaluation and treatment, as his actions are not those of a normal person.  He is a sociopath and such be handled as such.

(We trust that others in Tamarit's family will take over the care of Tamarit and can assure him that his stepfather's actions were not "normal".  Hopefully, Juliano will be incarcerated for a very long time, and then the Humane Society can assist in finding Tamarit another canine partner, but one safe from this stepfather.)

Thank you for taking time to care about Tamarit and Coco and to see that JUSTICE IS SERVED!
