Convict former Attorney General John Ashcroft

  • by: Montgomery Norton

The Obama Administration has appealed on behalf of the former Attorney General, shielding him from suit regarding his unlawful arrests of suspected terrorists under false pretenses.  The Supreme Court intervened on Monday, October 18, 2010, to decide on a lawsuit of Attorney  General Ashcroft to hold him accountable for the illegal abuses of detainment and torture.
The Obama Administration has already refused to convict the numerous abuses of the Bush Administration regarding torture, et al.  This is why we elected the Campaign for Change.  This is why and how people lose faith in our government, our leaders, and our politics.  What happened to the Campaign on Accountability?  We need to hold these attorneys and former Justice Department officials accountable under the law!
We the undersigned consider human rights and our protections under the law sacred and universal rights of all humans, according to our U.S. Constitution, our Bill of Rights, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the Geneva Convention.  To not hold former Attorney General John Ashcroft and every other lawyer and Justice Department official of the former Administration accountable, is criminal and a violation of everything that this country has stood for throughout our history.
We respectfully demand that those who performed torture, ordered torture, and who were complicit to the torture and unlawful detainment of U.S. citizens and international citizens, accountable to investigation under the law with respect to criminal and civil charges.
We the citizens of this great nation will not allow our basic human rights to be eroded by any public official, including the former Attorney General.
