Convenience of Sattelite Phone Service

I am requesting that Satellite Phone Providers create a plan for families and especially outdoor enthusiasts across the world that enable us, for the most part - the average guy, to be in touch with the outside world because of the enormous amount of regard to the saftey of ourselves and those all around us.

This would be a plan that would allow outdoor enthusiasts, explorers, rock-climbers, desert travellers, cyclists, etc. the liberty to do their specialized activities but know they can be in contact with family, friends or emergency services - anytime, anywhere and visa versa.  And THAT my friends, brings a lot of peace of comfort to me and families alike.

This plan would have NO monthly, annual fees.

This plan would be a "pay as you go" service.  You can buy pre-paid minutes from the global communication providers and have them "on hold."  Also, these pre-paid minutes would not expire.

Granted, global communications is a growing industry and obviously will cost money.  I am willing to pay up to $1.00 a minute for my usage.  That's no big deal because I will be resassurred that I can be in contact with anyone, virtually anywhere in the world.

Think of it: wouldn't it be great to buy a satellite phone, put it in your survival pack and only use it when you need it.  Or more casually, you and your pack are headed to go hunt, or explore a new remote area of wilderness or desert area and all you have to do is load up your phone with new minutes (say $20 will give you 20minutes of talk-time) and you can arrive at your destination and let your loved-ones know that you are safe and sound.  Also, they will be greatly be comforted and reassured that they can reach you if something happens AT HOME and YOU need to know about it A.S.A.P.

A service like this would be more than likely, a significant financial boost to the company who endores this idea and makes a pro-active effort to make its loyal users (like me) a priority.

Heck, I would even make phone calls just 10miles from my phone (no phone service in the mountains) just to call family and loved ones about my journey and that everything is good.  Who wouldn't want that?
