We, the undersigned, wish to express our deep concern about widespread animal suffering in China. We are particularly concerned about the deplorable conditions in zoos exposed by recent investigations, the practice of live feeding of animals in zoos, the killing of the poor for cleaning up olympic activity centres and the plight of dogs killed for meat.
We welcome the moves that China has made to protect endangered wildlife and respectfully request the introduction of general animal protection legislation to prevent cruelty to all animals. Recent surveys show that most of the Chinese people are concerned about the welfare of sentient animals and strongly in favour of such legislation. Creating a law offering some protection to animals would be widely welcomed by the international community and help consolidate China%u2019s position among leading nations.

China needs to pass laws against animal cruelty and strictly enforce them. It is sick that kill cats & dogs for their fur & to eat them. Then they ship the fur products to other countries and lie about what kind of animal the fur came from. Obviously, they can't be trusted to provide quality merchandise. After all, look at their track record with consumer goods: baby swings that break & cause injuries, lead paint used on children toys, all the pet food recalls, and the list goes on and on! I refuse to buy anything from China!

It is a total digrace how animlas are treated around the World. Especially in China and lots of Eastern Countries. I am in the UK and still cannot beleive that we allow animals to be kept in Zoos. Who in there right mind would pay money to watch animlas, especially large cats, pounding up and down all day in total frustration. Who in this day and age needs fur now.? I would also like to add I am against experiments on all animals, but if these experiments are need, lets keep them in the UK. We do have some morals.

I have never owned fur myself and so have never realise (being naive) the extent of the horrors which surround the industry ... It is a disgrace and although it is very likely that it will never stop - there are more humane ways to continue doing it IF it MUST continue! I cannot begin to understand why people would continue desinging fashions which include fur - and why people continue buying it? It is a vicious and disgusting cycle which people who own fur should be ashamed of contributing to!

My daughter told me recently she was watching a programme about the fur trade and she burst into tears. When she told me why she wend into detail about what she had seen and it was horrific.
