Dogs at Play

Cupertino Dog Park

Target:
Cupertino City Council and Parks Dept.
Sponsored by:
This petition is intended to show how many people are interested in establishing a Dog Park, Off-leash area, or designated hours for off-leash dogs at local parks in Cupertino.  While we are primarily interested in the views of Cupertino residents, we welcome our neighbors in adjoining communities to join us in this discussion.  And while you certainly don't need to own a dog to sign this, we would like to know how many dogs in Cupertino are are in need of a place to play.
A Dog Park or Park Dog Hours allows the dogs to socialize and get the exercise and playtime that is not possible while they are on a leash. As dog owners we know how important this is for their health and well being. A tired dog is a happy dog!  It also gives us a chance to meet other dog owners and build a sense of community with them, sharing information while monitoring the dogs interaction and of course doing clean-up duty.
Please sign the petition, they say anonymous people are frequently not counted, and please add any comments you wish to share.  We promise not to use this information for any other purpose.  We want to make this a community project!

My husband and I have two dogs and they are very much a part of our family. Being able to take our dogs somewhere and to be able to spend time with them in the open enjoying the day would be invaluable. As responsible dog owners, we understand that exercise and socialization are important for our dogs' physical and mental health. Dog parks function not only as places for dogs to get exercise but also as a place for dog owners to meet and share information on dog training, health, and other issues concerning owning and raising balanced animals. We have attended various other dog parks in neighboring cities and are surprised that Cupertino does not have any.

Woot GO Cupertino. We need a dog park in Cupertino. My house is very far from the closest dog park. It is a couple of miles away so I can't possibly walk my chihuahua there.

We love dog parks, our dogs love dog parks, and even our little baby loves going to the dark park. Dogs need placed to play also, which is why it would be awesome to have a dog park in Cupertino.

To have a dog park in Cupertino is a wonderful idea. It can be shared by so many of our neighbors from other sities as well.

Having just moved to Cupertino, I was surprised it does not have its own dog park. It is really needed in this community.

As a responsible dog owner living in the South Bay, I've signed this petition to express my support for a dog park in Cupertino. I lack for dog parks that are big enough for my Golden Retriever to run and play. It is my hope that the Cupertino City Council and Parks department will support responsible dog owners by putting in an off-leash dog park so residents and visitors have a clean, safe, legal place to exercise their dogs and interact with others in the community.

Dogs do need an offleash area to socialize with other dogs and run off all their pent up energy. There aren't nearly enough off leash dog parks in the area!

A healthy, well exercised dog is a happy dog. Dogs need to be free to run just like humans.

We have alot of dogs in this town that are not being properly socialized. Therefore, we are going to see more dog fights and dog related problems-- help our dogs and lets get them a Park !

I strongly feel that we should be able to make some allowances for having 'dog time' in one of our Cupertino parks. Linda Vista would be a great choice, either with set hours, or a set location.

Would like to suggest using artificial turf - what a difference that makes - like the Saratoga Creek and the Bucher Park dogparks.

I am the owner of a certified therapy dog, Tahoe. She brings me great joy, as I am sure other dog owners must feel about their own pets. I consider myself a responsible dog owner, and I would like to see a more pet friendly community in Cupertino. Having a place to socialize your dog also socializes the dog owners. I believe that in creating places for people to come together for a positive common experience we build a closer community, in this case, the dog owner community. By creating opportunities for dog friendly interactions, we help build more responsible dog owners. And in having more responsible dog owners, you have a happier and healthier community as a whole.
