When L. G. a single mom, requested an increase in child support and back owed child support, from her son's father, the father responded with a request of a custody change of their son's primary residence, so he could be the residential parent and get child support from the mother.
The father left when their son was only three.
The father owes the mother $ 9,000 in court ordered past due bills, and $12,900 in back child support, and the mother who has spent $200,00.00 in this unecessary case is now unemployed due to the harrassment at her job with the court issues.
The judge, switched custody to the father with no basis, no reason, the mother is a concerned, devoted, involved mom, the child is an all around great kid, yet Judge Shapiro ruined all that. Judge Shapiro dismissed the debts due to the mother by the father and cleared the father from paying the mother and ordered that she pay the father child suppport, even though the father makes a substantial amount of money, and the judge knew that the mother was unemployed. Judge Bernard S. Shapiro removed the son from his well established, normal, healthy and happy life and placed him in an unknown environment, in a different school with no friends away from his support group, away from his mom and away from the life that the child had been accustomed and raised in, all of his 16 years, The explanation of this appalling order and travesty of law was because Judge Bernie Shapiro felt that the father was very rigid and because of that the son would make "A"'s in school if he lived with him, and Shapiro also felt that it was the father's turn to have the son even though there had never been one paper filed in court in 16 years by the father against the mother, Judge Shapiro basically played with the child's life and abused his power.
The son is currently failing his classes at his father's,(in 16 years the son had never failed a grade or classes) at his mother's he had no problems. The Father's job keeps him away from home 18 to 20 days a month, the Mother is involved 24 and 7 in the child's life, the father lives in a county different from the mother, and when the change first took place the child was not allowed to see the mother out of vengance and the son was used as a tool to hurt the Mother. Judge Shapiro ruled that the Mother could not see her son in 30 days from the day the custody change took place.
Their son is a 16 year-old mature, bright young man who has always lived with his mother. He has never been in trouble with the law, or at school he has never used drugs or alcohol and was very involved in sports, extra curricular activites and charity work. He has lived in the same community, had the same friends, and went to the same school with the same group of friends all of his life. Judge Bernard S. Shapiro ignored that the son was very involved in his religion, such as youth group, counselor at his temple, charity work, all this stopped since the ruling took place and Shapiro knew this would happen and did not care. How can a Judge cause so much damage in the most important and detrimental years in a teenager's life, and get away with it because he feels he can, this Judge had no respect or consideration to this child's life!
The son did not want to live with his father, Judge Bernard S. Shapiro was aware of the son's feelings and refused to take the son's feelings into consideration. The judge refused to allow the son to testify and ignored his pleas of wanting to stay with his mother. The son wants to come home, he is sad, he has lost his high self esteem, he misses his home,his mom, his friends, his dog and his school, please help us, sign the petition and stop the Judges who ignore the child's best interest. . NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Newark Police have arrested the head of a Wilmington school for allegedly encouraging a teenage boy to buy porn.
Police say Rabbi Jack Sparks of Albert Einstein Academy took the 15-year-old to a store with a room with merchandise for adults. Police say Sparks offered to buy the boy a pornographic magazine so he could "have a good time."
Police say the boy declined and told his parents, who notified police.
Detectives learned Sparks got to know the boy because one of the teen's relatives is a student at the academy.
Police say Sparks had been taking the boy out to eat and shop. Eventually, police said he bought the boy a computer where he was having sexual conversations with him during online chats.

A Wilmington rabbi and head of a school was charged in connection with endangering the welfare of a child.
Jack Sparks, 53, was taken into custody Monday morning and then released on $2,000 bond.
He is head of the Albert Einstein Academy in Wilmington. Sparks was charged with engaging in sexually inappropriate Internet conversations with a 15-year-old male. NBC 10 reported that the boy was not a student at the school.
One of the members of the board of trustees said Sparks was on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Police said the victim was the older sibling to one of the students at Albert Einstein, which is how he met the rabbi. Police said Sparks and the teenager spent time together from February to December of last year.
"They had a relationship with the consent of the parents, that they were shopping together and hanging out together," said Lt. Brian Henry of the Newark Police Department.
Police said the teenager cut off the relationship when the rabbi offered to buy him pornography. Investigators said the boy eventually told his parents about the incident this February, and that is when police began to investigate.
"And during that investigation, we determined that they were having online conversations that were becoming sexual in nature," Henry said. "That the rabbi had purchased a computer for this child to have the ability to have these conversations with him."
Police said they arrested Sparks and seized a computer and adult pornography from his home.
Neighbors witnessed the police activity in disbelief.
No one was home at Sparks' house Monday night, NBC 10 reported.
Police said they had a message for other parents.
"We're very concerned," Henry said. "We know that this type of offender usually has more than one victim -- that they seek out other children, so at this point, we're asking for anyone who has had an inappropriate relationship with Rabbi Sparks to come forward so we can investigate that as well."

The online conversations turned sexual, including talk of female body parts, pornography and masturbation, Henry said.
Sparks, who has headed the school since 2005, was released on $2,000 unsecured bail. He could not be reached for comment Monday.

Rabbi Sparks is the head of the Albert Einstein Academy, a private school located north of Wilmington at 101 Garden of Eden Road, in Talleyville.
According to police, the charge stems from Sparks befriending a 15-year-old male and ultimately taking the teen to a store where he encouraged him to pick out a pornographic magazine. Police say Sparks told the teen he would buy the magazine for him so he could "have a good time."
The teens sibling attends Albert Einstein Academy and met Sparks while picking up his sibling. Sparks developed a friendship over time, taking the teen out to restaurants, he bought the teen a computer and according to police their online contact became sexual in nature. Eventually Sparks took the teen to a store and encouraged him to enter a room marked with a sign prohibiting minors, where he was to pick out a magazine. The teen refused and told his parents what happened.
Sparks was arraigned and released on $2,000 unsecured bond.

The Head of Albert Einstein Academy in Wilmington faces charges of inappropriate interaction with a minor.
Rabbi Jack Sparks, of 69 West Mill Station Road in Newark, initiated a friendship with a 15 year old boy whose sibling went to Albert Einstein.
According to the family, the friendship bloomed from dinner andshopping to Rabbi Sparks buying the boy a computer and having online chats with him.
The friendship initially had the blessing of the parents because they viewed the rabbi as a mentor for their young son.
Eventually the online conversations turned sexual where he offered to buy the child a pornographic magazine and take him into the back room of an adult store.
The boy refused and told his parents who called police.

When L. G. a single mom, requested an increase in child support and back owed child support, from her son's father, the father responded with a request of a custody change of their son's primary residence, so he could be the residential parent and get child support from the mother.
The father left when their son was only three.
The father owes the mother $ 9,000 in court ordered past due bills, and $12,900 in back child support, and the mother who has spent $200,00.00 in this unecessary case is now unemployed due to the harrassment at her job with the court issues.
The judge, switched custody to the father with no basis, no reason, the mother is a concerned, devoted, involved mom, the child is an all around great kid, yet Judge Shapiro ruined all that. Judge Shapiro dismissed the debts due to the mother by the father and cleared the father from paying the mother and ordered that she pay the father child suppport, even though the father makes a substantial amount of money, and the judge knew that the mother was unemployed. Judge Bernard S. Shapiro removed the son from his well established, normal, healthy and happy life and placed him in an unknown environment, in a different school with no friends away from his support group, away from his mom and away from the life that the child had been accustomed and raised in, all of his 16 years, The explanation of this appalling order and travesty of law was because Judge Bernie Shapiro felt that the father was very rigid and because of that the son would make "A"'s in school if he lived with him, and Shapiro also felt that it was the father's turn to have the son even though there had never been one paper filed in court in 16 years by the father against the mother, Judge Shapiro basically played with the child's life and abused his power.
The son is currently failing his classes at his father's,(in 16 years the son had never failed a grade or classes) at his mother's he had no problems. The Father's job keeps him away from home 18 to 20 days a month, the Mother is involved 24 and 7 in the child's life, the father lives in a county different from the mother, and when the change first took place the child was not allowed to see the mother out of vengance and the son was used as a tool to hurt the Mother. Judge Shapiro ruled that the Mother could not see her son in 30 days from the day the custody change took place.
Their son is a 16 year-old mature, bright young man who has always lived with his mother. He has never been in trouble with the law, or at school he has never used drugs or alcohol and was very involved in sports, extra curricular activites and charity work. He has lived in the same community, had the same friends, and went to the same school with the same group of friends all of his life. Judge Bernard S. Shapiro ignored that the son was very involved in his religion, such as youth group, counselor at his temple, charity work, all this stopped since the ruling took place and Shapiro knew this would happen and did not care. How can a Judge cause so much damage in the most important and detrimental years in a teenager's life, and get away with it because he feels he can, this Judge had no respect or consideration to this child's life!
The son did not want to live with his father, Judge Bernard S. Shapiro was aware of the son's feelings and refused to take the son's feelings into consideration. The judge refused to allow the son to testify and ignored his pleas of wanting to stay with his mother. Police say Rabbi Jack Sparks of Albert Einstein Academy took the 15-year-old to a store with a room with merchandise for adults. Police say Sparks offered to buy the boy a pornographic magazine so he could "have a good time."
Police say the boy declined and told his parents, who notified police.
Detectives learned Sparks got to know the boy because one of the teen's relatives is a student at the academy.
Police say Sparks had been taking the boy out to eat and shop. Eventually, police said he bought the boy a computer where he was having sexual conversations with him during online chats.

A Wilmington rabbi and head of a school was charged in connection with endangering the welfare of a child.
Jack Sparks, 53, was taken into custody Monday morning and then released on $2,000 bond.
He is head of the Albert Einstein Academy in Wilmington. Sparks was charged with engaging in sexually inappropriate Internet conversations with a 15-year-old male. NBC 10 reported that the boy was not a student at the school.
One of the members of the board of trustees said Sparks was on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Police said the victim was the older sibling to one of the students at Albert Einstein, which is how he met the rabbi. Police said Sparks and the teenager spent time together from February to December of last year.
"They had a relationship with the consent of the parents, that they were shopping together and hanging out together," said Lt. Brian Henry of the Newark Police Department.
Police said the teenager cut off the relationship when the rabbi offered to buy him pornography. Investigators said the boy eventually told his parents about the incident this February, and that is when police began to investigate.
"And during that investigation, we determined that they were having online conversations that were becoming sexual in nature," Henry said. "That the rabbi had purchased a computer for this child to have the ability to have these conversations with him."
Police said they arrested Sparks and seized a computer and adult pornography from his home.
Neighbors witnessed the police activity in disbelief.
No one was home at Sparks' house Monday night, NBC 10 reported.
Police said they had a message for other parents.
"We're very concerned," Henry said. "We know that this type of offender usually has more than one victim -- that they seek out other children, so at this point, we're asking for anyone who has had an inappropriate relationship with Rabbi Sparks to come forward so we can investigate that as well."

The online conversations turned sexual, including talk of female body parts, pornography and masturbation, Henry said.
Sparks, who has headed the school since 2005, was released on $2,000 unsecured bail. He could not be reached for comment Monday.

Rabbi Sparks is the head of the Albert Einstein Academy, a private school located north of Wilmington at 101 Garden of Eden Road, in Talleyville.
According to police, the charge stems from Sparks befriending a 15-year-old male and ultimately taking the teen to a store where he encouraged him to pick out a pornographic magazine. Police say Sparks told the teen he would buy the magazine for him so he could "have a good time."
The teens sibling attends Albert Einstein Academy and met Sparks while picking up his sibling. Sparks developed a friendship over time, taking the teen out to restaurants, he bought the teen a computer and according to police their online contact became sexual in nature. Eventually Sparks took the teen to a store and encouraged him to enter a room marked with a sign prohibiting minors, where he was to pick out a magazine. The teen refused and told his parents what happened.
Sparks was arraigned and released on $2,000 unsecured bond.

The Head of Albert Einstein Academy in Wilmington faces charges of inappropriate interaction with a minor.
Rabbi Jack Sparks, of 69 West Mill Station Road in Newark, initiated a friendship with a 15 year old boy whose sibling went to Albert Einstein.
According to the family, the friendship bloomed from dinner andshopping to Rabbi Sparks buying the boy a computer and having online chats with him.
The friendship initially had the blessing of the parents because they viewed the rabbi as a mentor for their young son.
Eventually the online conversations turned sexual where he offered to buy the child a pornographic magazine and take him into the back room of an adult store.
The boy refused and told his parents who called police.

I have been going thru similar problems with this judge, who has seen and heard evidence confirming that my son's mother put his schooling and well being in jeopardy and regardless of this evidence has continued to side with her. I was well employed and had an on going career in my industry for over 20 years, due to the struggles of paying an attorney who is as worthless as this judge, I became unemployed, thru all this I have given proof that the statements of the mother are untrue yet he continues to side with her. My fear now is that he will allow her to take my son to another state to live with a boyfriend she met online. I will add that he is aware of the following: She took him to another state for over 8 days during school time to meet this person, when he came back he was not himself and would jump at the doorbell ringing when I asked him why he said he was scared his mother would come and take him away again. She then took him on a 7 day cruise 3 months later, flew to vegas 3 more times... When I asked how this was possible as she was unemployed, she admitted she used the money for her attorney to pay for most of it and my support to do the rest, yet this judge's response was the child needed shelter when on vacation....my response was during school your honor??? and the support is for my son's monthly expenses not her vacations so what about the rest of the month? I hope my story helps someone or if there is someone that can help me with a name of some attorney that can help me in my case I would greatly appreciate it. Either way, god bless.

I am amazed at the incompetence in the Miami-Dade court system. We desperately need some ethical and consistent judges.
I'm glad to see someone take a stand. I have an ongoing similar situation with Judge Magid.
As an adult who suffered through a similar childhood, I can say first hand, without a doubt, that this is NOT RIGHT. If the father TRULY cared about his son's well-being, he would have never gone have his son go through such a court battle knowing his son has always been happy with his mom I can't believe a judge would allow this to happen. This young man obviously belongs with his mother!
It is the current preferred outcome of 50/50 custody that is so popular in the court system that needs to be addressed. Attorneys do not want to lose favor with judges so they do not act in the best interest of the child. The judge should not decide if the child has a right to testify; the child should be able to depend on himself or herself to be heard by testifying. Child rights attorneys still are influenced to stay on a judges good side, but testimony carries more weight. The right should be decided by age.

This story is horrific, but does not surprise me. The judicial system does NOT look at the best interests of a child who is thriving and healthy in his/her environment. To change custody at the age of 16 is outragous. Was the mother accused of parental alienation? If so, do you research of the Leadership Council and Dr. Paul Fink and you will find that it is nothing more than "junk science" and that Dr. Richard Gardner was a pedophilia believer. He commit suicide in 2003. You can check this out online too and view the coroner's full report. Parental Alienation is nothing more than a legal defense and is not a psychological phenomenon.
Have you filed an appeal and a complaint to the FLA bar and the JQC regarding this case.

I am also the victim of Judge Bernard S. Shapiro. He has failed to perfrom his duty on the State of Florida Rules of Court - Judicial Rules of Conduct - Canon 3. I need help. Are the solutions to such a corrupt legal system?

After reading this horrific story I am extremly scares. Shapiro is my Judge as well. I been fighting in court for a year now in my divorce/custody case. My son's dad abandone me when I was preganant, then following the birth of my son he went to jail. Never in the last 3 years should any intrest then when I finally got the streangth to file for divorce he decided he wanted to be a dad and wants right to my son, and shared custody. I don't know the outcome of my case but after ready this i AM SCARED.
After being divorced almost 11 years and having my custody and visitations already set forth, this judge has openly allowed my ex-wife to leave the country child in hand as well as let her place the child on a flight by herself at the age of FIVE. my daughter visits Spain, 8 hr flight + a layover. This occurred in 2000, since then it has occerred several more times and he has not addressed even the fact that my Ex was unable to prove my daughter was flying with an adult, much less my permission. he has allowed perjury, doubled back on several of his decisions & ended the hearings even when there was more to discuss.
This is terrible unfortunately I understand it full well as my ex husband took me to court for custody of the children after they have lived with me 7 years and he woes over 7,000 in child support and the children don't want to live with him. I don't know what the outcome of my case will be but after a year and a half I'm worn down and left to wonder. I think the judge has been pretty fair in my case thus far. I guess we'll see.
The juge sounds like Satan himself!! What an atrocity. That poor mom and son. It breaks my heart. I am a mother and I know my son is my life and my center. I would do anything to protect him.
I find this horrific and not in the best interest of the child. The mother clearly has a strong foundation in the child's interest along with the wishes of the child and to completely ignore this is incomprehensible. It sounds like the legal system needs to be reviewed along with taking this Judge's license to practice away... We need a bill to protect issues like this or it will be another subrime fiasco...
Very heartless judge misusing his power. He was very unfair to all parties in the case.What a poor example he sets for all custody hearings. Shame on this judge and he should no longer be one!
This disgusts me.
Stop the bias of American judges in favour of abusive and neglectful fathers. This lady should have the money that is owed to her, and her child back.

After reading the story I decided not to vote for Judge Shapiro. It's disgusting what he did to that boy's life and he shouldn't be given such power with someone's life.
What a travesty of justice. A 16 year old knows what is best for him and to take him from his Mother is unconsionable. Did Dad pay you off? This has nothing to do with this boy's best interests but everything to do with Judge Shapiro's greedy interests. This judge is just there to support teh feeding frezy of court psychologists, lawyers and all the other so-called court experts who have no interests in the children but lots of interest in money. Due Process does not exist in American courts and children are most abused by the legal system. A country that does not protect the most vulnerable which is definitely children and women(who have less money to fight against your dirty system)is not a civilized country. I am ashamed of US Family law where every day thousands of children are destroyed by unethical Judges and all their unethical wrangling to wrestly custody of a devoted and caring motehr. Shame on all of you.
this is so wrong! its not the father or the judge who should have the say, its the 16-year old! his life has been ruined enough and so has the mothers. this judge does not control the lives of these people, and he does not have the right to take away them lives, just because he thinks he can. he does not have the power to do this! he should just be thown out of that court so a proper judge WHO CARES can take his place and let this boy live his life the way he dreams!
In many high positions there are incapable persons who curiously got their job and who harms the society. What is needed, is a proper family law, a right recognition of this 16 year old young boy who is at this age surely capable of giving his opinion about the situation. Act now! Consider it seriously to get rid of incapable authorities who live on the money of all citizens!
