Hold our judges and lawmakers responsible for our children's abuse. It is their job to protect them and us.

Dawn's Law

Target:
Maricopa county Judges
Sponsored by:

To Whom It May Concern,

I believe on October 16, 2009, the bodies of Dawn Axsom, Lisa Braden and Gabriel Schwartz were found in Peoria. It was determined to be a murder/suicide. Previously, Axsom had gone before Judge Jose Padilla and pleaded for the safety of herself and her son. Judge Padilla down played the situation and ordered therapy for the two people. Unfortunately this is not an isolated incident. Every day Maricopa County Family Court Judges are siding with fathers due to "Parental Alienation." No matter the studies, reports and facts (such as Dawn Axsom) that show that the Father%u2019s Rights Movement is another way for father%u2019s to abuse and harass the mother%u2019s of their children, Judges such as Padilla are putting lives in danger with their rulings. However, this is not unknown to the lawmakers of Maricopa County. The problem is, is that the people who have the responsibility with protecting us, are the very ones who are sweeping these issues under the rug.

Out of all of the child abuse related deaths, 70% are committed by biological fathers. However, the state of Arizona does not seem to care about this. Maricopa County Judges are ordering the majority of parenting time to go to fathers, with the knowledge that the father%u2019s new wife, or girl friend, will actually be raising the children. International studies show that this is detrimental to the children.

How many Dawn Axsom%u2019s does Arizona need before our lawmakers realize that we need a complete over haul of our Family Court System.

The Maricopa County Judges seem to believe that they can make up the laws as they go along, and the consequences do not matter. Judge Padilla needs to be brought up on manslaughter charges. If we allow him to walk away, more deaths will weigh on the shoulders of Arizona%u2019s lawmakers.

How many children have to kill their abusers? How many children have to be raised by strangers? How many children will be victimized by their abusing parent before the state accepts responsibility for the people they place in positions of authority? The state of Arizona is responsible for Dawn Axsom%u2019s death as well as the St. John%u2019s man who abused his son until the eight year old boy shot him. How long will Arizona get away with murder? Www.ffazc.org as well as other sites are attempting to bring this miscarriage of justice to the forefront. After all, the murder/suicide was promptly reported, yet the actual reason behind it was hidden away. Stop aiding the abusers, Speak out! Give our children a voice, before another abusive parent silences them forever.

I want to create a petition to force our lawmakers to be held responsible for the decisions they make.  Judge Jose Padilla needs to be brought up on manslaughter charges.  Don't let him walk away.

I did not know them personally but I do have a friend that did and it is just heartbreaking to have to watch her go through that , that so called Judge did nothing for her and her family and he should be held responsible for what he did.

This is again another sad story, that seems to happen over and over again. We all need to wake up and realize that something has to be done about this! :-)

Dawn and linda were terrified for their lives, and thought the court would save them. Dawn had 2 restraining orders against gabe (which Judge Padilla issued previous to their custody hearing on oct 6th). Gabe had 2 dui's, and no insurance on his car. Judge Padilla ordered a drug and alcohol screening to be done within 60 days. What about now? So in the meantime he had visitations with Xavier. Gabe tried killing himself twice before, one of the times he was alone in the house with baby Xavier while Dawn worked. All I can say is wow. They thought Judge Padilla would save their lives, and instead he sealed their fate by forcing them to stay here in Arizona. Poor Xavier lost his mother, nana, and father all in one day.

I also feel very strongly that the judicial system needs to recognize domestic violence as a growing problem. We need to express our concerns louder and louder until judges and legislators can no longer ignore the Dawns in our communities.

Dawn was my Aunt, and I will do anything to help others who are in her situation. I believe this law could help many others. My heart goes out to all who have signed this petition. Thank you.

The murdering of women and children involved in family court cases in Maricopa County needs to stop. When are protective parents rights going to be taken seriously by the Maricopa County judges? The time is now.

Maricopa County judges play russian roulette with children's lives by ignoring domestic violence. Jose Padilla failed to abide by the law in Dawn Axsom's case but instead prioritized the "rights" of a violent parent over the safety of the other parent and the child. No judge should be allowed to let this occur in his/her court without a review and removal of that judge.

I agree that Judge Jose Padilla should face charges for this ruling. If this was an isolated incident my feelings may be different, but it is not. Judge Padilla has utilized his power to inflict harm to many children and he should be stopped. I believe that he should be removed from the bench before he causes more harm.

He has done something very similar to me. He still remains my family court judge.

Everyday Maricopa County Family Court Judges are circumventing the law to further their own agendas. Let's send them a message that they will be held responsible for the consequences of their decision.
