Help Us Legalize Same Sex Marriage In Delaware

Target:
Delaware's Lawmakers
Sponsored by:

This petition requests that all government officials, regardless of political party, religion, race, sex, or orientation recognize the need for equal rights concerning current marriage laws. You are being asked to consider the large homosexual population in America and their request for recognition and equal treatment and benefits that are freely given to heterosexual couples. These laws need to change in able to support the doctrines of the United States Constitution. The current laws have been found to be unconstitutional and promote intolerance in this country. The right given to two consenting adults, who love each other should not be awarded to some and denied to others. This is pure discrimination. We ask you to do everything in your power to protect the laws regarding equal marriage rights for all couples, heterosexual and homosexual. To do this, the right to marry must be available to all. The people of this country have elected you to better the conditions of this land and expect you to act upon the requests of its citizens. The opportunity for change is now. Please support equal marriage laws.

Marriage equality is happening in this country. Currently, lesbian and gay couples are entitled to all the state-level rights and benefits of marriage in Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire. In addition, lesbian and gay couples in New Jersey are able to enter into state-level civil unions, and there are broad domestic partnership laws in California, Oregon and the District of Columbia. In New York, after a 2008 court ruling and a directive subsequently issued by Governor David Paterson, valid out-of-state marriages by lesbian and gay couples must be legally recognized. Other states are taking hopeful steps toward marriage, and there are efforts to remove legal obstacles preventing lesbian and gay couples from receiving rights and responsibilities under federal law.

If you are resident of Delaware, please sign this petition, and pass it along for others to sign. Show your support of same-sex marriage. Help us gain the equality we all want. Support us in this cause to make Same-Sex Marriage Legal In Delaware. Your signature simply tells our lawmakers that you support marriage regardless of gender. We are the 1st State let us all join together so we are not the LAST state to receive equal rights & the right to marry the person we love regardless of gender. Let us end this discrimination now and demand our EQUAL RIGHTS!!

Same-sex marriage; Why leagalize it? That's what people are asking. Well, I know the answer. The government should have no say over who we can love, and who we can't. I, myself, am straight. However, about ninety percent of my friends are gay, or bi-sexual. It hurts me knowing they will never be able to legally love, and marry, who they want. So, let's legalize it!

Marriage, and the associated rights, is a civil matter. Denying people who love each other the right to marry is an obstruction of their civil rights.

The Earth is dying from excessive human breeding. The Gays are usually not involved with this and should be given all rights and thanked.

Let those who choose marriage, be married and all of us will benefit. Societal recognition, community support of love and partnership, the essential human experience of participating in ritual rites of passage, the importance of emotional "belonging," equal status for children of same-gender couples, equal legal benefits... how can marriage for some but not others be rationalized in any state or nation in 2009?

My sister and her partner of 20 years live in Delaware and should be given the same recognition and equal treatment as any "straight" couple! Please support this!

A few days ago the Governor of California signed a law that recognizes in California the same gender marriages performed in other states and countries. More and more state leaders and more and more voters in states across this country are realizing that marriage and family equality is the ethical way. Join us in fairness and equality for all.
