This petition is for all Equine Lovers & Protectors in the United States who want to put an end to the Horrific Slaughter of Equines in the USA, and for passage of S. 311, a bill currently in the U.S. Congress that would outlaw equine slaughter in the U.S. once and for all and would also prohibit the transport of our horses out of the U.S. into other countries for slaughter. We feel it is IMPERATIVE to pass S. 311 to stop the dispicable practice of sending our American horses abroad to slaughter for human consumption. America is the WORLD LEADER in exporting equines to slaughter abroad. How is that for an American Distinction? These horses are an American Treasure and should not be treated this way. There is NO good reason for it. Slaughter IS NOT humane euthansia and most of the horses going to slaughter today are young and healthy. Most of them are ex-racehorses or breeders "cast-offs" that "didnt make the grade" for the breeder. Equine slaughter is NOT a "necessary" evil as some will say. Equine Slaughter is all about $$$ and nothing more.
