We, the people of NY, hereby do demand the resignation of ASPCA President Ed Sayres. Ed has demonstrated that he no longer has the capacity to act in the best interest of the animals in their care.
One of many examples is the case of Oreo. The MIRACLE dog, thrown from a six story building, and LIVED. After getting her broken bones fixed and her health restored, Mr. Sayres believed her to be a danger to society and ordered her euthanasia.
Pets Alive, a no kill animal sanctuary - one of the largest in the United States offered sanctuary to Oreo and was rebuffed. When the head of the ASPCA decided that DEATH is better than rehabilitation under a well respected organization, it is time he GETS OUT.
SIGN THIS PETITION TO PROTECT THE ANIMALS OF NEW YORK. Ed Sayres MUST GO.

DO IT NOW! Don't continue to have your name smeared across the internet. Take action and BE THE VOICE of the animals.
We signed the "DEMAND RESIGNATION OF ASPCA PRES. ED SAYRE" petition!

This is the most disgusting story I've heard - GET RID OF the head of the ASPCA and change their name to ASCA - since cruelty is what apparently they are really about! What a damn shame! Such a beautiful dog put thru so much agony and grief and suffering - I only hope the same for all the individuals involved in this MURDER!

I can't believe what I just read ! To choose euthanasia over a chance at a wonderful, new life is unreal. Ed Sayre has no business heading the ASPCA or any other animal organization. I'll make sure my donations go to support an organization that believes in rehabilitation, not euthanasia.

I have been a very generous supporter of the ASPCA.
The donations will be discontinued until Mr. Sayres resigns or is fired...without a hefty severance package!

We had a similar situation at our local shelter recently. A dog that had been there 2.5 yrs & going to be killed, was offered a safe haven w/a legitimate local rescue organization. A request was made in writing several times as well as by phone. Requests for either never answered or denied. the dog was killed and the director of the shelter stated the dog had been given every opportunity. NOT TRUE! She was never allowed to leave the shelter to see if she could be rehabilitated and she wasn't even a dangerous dog, as they claimed. Sayers & all others like him should be banned from heading organizations w/regard to animals.

On a sidenote...........ARE YOU PEOPLE KIDDING ME WITH WHAT YOU DID TO BUDDY? Giving him back to those awful Greek abusive scumbags? What the hell is wrong with you people? I have the feeling a lot of it starts with the President of this Co. and trickles down........count my money out, unless you change your policies DRASTICALLY! RIP OREO, and Ed, you are a real MORON.

Ed -- did you want all the Vick dogs killed too? Because many of those dogs are now living wonderful happy lives with families who love them.
OREO DESERVED A CHANCE YET YOU CHOSE TO KILL HER, YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN A HIGH KILL SHELTER.

If the ASPCA takes Animal Welfare seriously they will demand resignation of Ed Sayres. You can not turn your back on animals and swear to protect them at the same time. You undermine the Animals you claim to protect and the people who devote their lives to helping them. You cannot stop Oreo's Law legislation from passing. We will fight you legally and to fight back shows you are not concerned with animals that can and should be saved. Shame on the ASPCA for attempting to block legislation to allow shelters to save healthy animals from Euthanasia. Fire Ed Sayres. He is against the animals and the shelters who save them.

Best Friends provided sanctuary for the Michael Vick pit bulls that were considered too aggressive for adoption.
Oreo, an adolescent at 18 months, should have been allowed the opportunity to thrive in a different environment.
Please remove Ed Sayres from his position.

I'd like to know if anything happened to the owner who had such little regard for Oreo's life. Oreo didn't ask to be thrown away or for the surgery and pain that followed. Oreo should have been given the chance for a home. Every animal should be given that chance. NO KILL!!!

There was no need to have Oreo put to sleep specially when a legit organization was willing and able to look after her. It wouldn't be right if Mr. Sayres was to be put to sleep and it was just as wrong for Oreo to be put to sleep...specially when there was help being offered.

What happened to Oreo showed an extreme error in judgment and flagrant disregard for the life of animals. Mr. Sayres completely disregarded offers to take Oreo in, and insisted on an execution driven by what is apparently his massive ego.
Resign! Resign now! And if you don't resign, I call on the ASPCA to boot him out the door!
More than sincerely,
Karen Zimmerman
