Dismissal of Dr. Robert Neulander from the list of Preferred Providers by Excellus Blue Cross/Blue S

Target:
All who are concerned with health care and the autonomy of our providers.
We, the undersigned, as concerned patients and consumers of health insurance are gravely concerned about our future as patients of Dr. Robert Neulander. Dr. Neulander has been dismissed without cause by Excellus BC/BS, and we are left to worry about our future responsibilities as payors, about the future of Dr. Neulander's practice, and about the ability of large insurers to control our lives. As an ethical, caring and highly respected provider we are convinced that Dr. Neulander is being treated unfairly and without cause and that we, his patients, will pay the price for this retributive and unnecessary action. We demand that this decision be rescinded and that our coverage remain unchanged, with Dr. Neulander given all previous rights and privileges of a preferred provider, which is his due. If this can happen to Dr. Neulander, it can happen to any medical provider. All people concerned with health care in America need to demand the right to access care from the provider of their choice without interference from their insurance carrier.

I have been a patient of Dr. Neulanders for 20+ years. It is unfathomable that at this time i need to find a new Dr. to treat me for a diagnosis that Dr. Neulander has made and a program we have been following for many years. I have placed my complete trust in Dr. Neulander for my health care needs and am very upset to not be able to continue to see him and his staff for my care. As a mother of 2 children that Dr. Neulander delivered we have also come to the time where my daughter was also a new patient of Choices West, it is a disgrace that she is not going to be offered the same care and knowledge that she deserves due to an insurance disbute. An insurance that I pay for...I think that I have the right to choose what physician I wish to see.

Dr. Neulander has worked hard to provide an inclusive obstetric and gynecological practice whose primary concern is the health, safety and well-being of mothers and their children. His ethics are exceptionally high and should be the standard by which other physicians are measured.

To arbitrarily and maliciously attempt to destroy the most ethical and most highly respected professional in the industry is a disservice to his patients who WILL NOT be deterred because of the injustice in dismissing him from being a network provider without cause. Excellus BC/BS needs to IMMEDIATELY consider the yet unforseen consequences of their actions before it becomes irreversible and costs lives for those patients that are economically forced to seek alternative care from lesser-quality providers.

As a recent patient of Dr. Neulander, I cannot imagine him being dismissed from any preferred provider list. I had a Novasure procedure done in February, and the care that I received from him is OUTSTANDING. He also just delivered my grandson on March 25, 2009 by emergency c-section at 28 weeks gestation. He was there night and day for my daughter through the whole ordeal. The patients who have excellus bc/bs will be the ones missing out on a highly respected, caring and exceptional doctor and will have to go elsewhere for much less care than they would get with Dr. Neulander. Excellus bc/bs is making a HUGE mistake.

Excellus BCBS is extorting funds from local doctors is exchage for business. Nice for a non-for-profit.

I am outraged at the fact that so many women are losing their ablility to recieve quality care for a vast array of needs and forced to go elsewhere. They are acting as if it is a privilege to recieve care from Dr. Neulander and forced to leave because of being unable to pay without insurance. This is a disgrace and disservice to women.

Dr. Neulander is the only ob/gyn in Camillus. How outrageous that Excellus is forcing so many patients to leave the immediate area in order to retain the use of their insurance plans.

After losing our daughter full term, we took great care in choosing a physician once we learned we were fortunate enough to be pregnant for a second time. We decided to deliver at Crouse, even though we live more than 70 miles away. We consulted multiple physicians in the syracuse area but it was an easy decison once we consulted Dr. Neulander. By the time my second appt. rolled around, we were made aware of Excellus's decision to dismiss Dr. Neulander. We chose to stay with the practice, and hope for the best. Although I have only been a patient for about 7 months, I am truly impressed with the dedication and care that he and his staff provide. My husband and I were looking for a physician that would answer all of questions, address all of our (many concerns), and make us feel like more than just a number... we found that at Choices West. A truly caring doctor is hard to find and Excellus has made a huge mistake in dropping such a doctor.

I think that Excellus has done a terrible disservice to their clients and to Dr Neulander. I have gone to Dr Neulander for many years and was extremely upset to find that I could not continue to go to his office for financial reasons imposed by Excellus. I have received wonderful care there over the years and am saddened to have to find a new physician. I truly hope that Excellus changes it's decision.

I am very unhappy at Excellus's decision to remove Dr. Neulander from their participating providers. I am working on having my commpany leave BCBS and go with a different healthcare provider!

Excellus BC/BS has treated a well respected doctor(Dr. Neulander) with contempt. I sincerely hope that they (Excellus)change their direction, apologize to Dr. Neulander and correct the situation. Regardless of the circumstances, Dr. Neulander continues to provide the finest care to his clients.

I've been a patient with Dr. Neulander since 1986 and 5 children later, I can't imagine going anywhere else. He's is an amazing Doctor and his staff has been amazing. I don't like the fact that BCBS is forcing me to find a new OB/GYN, when the the one I have I'm so comfortable with. and YES! I'm being FORCED because I can't afford to pay for my appointments out of pocket.

I am writing for myself and my 17 year old daughter. Your ob/gyn is the most important physician in a woman's life and for excellus to take away a trusted doctor from the patients I feel is criminal.

It took years for me to search for a gynecologist and finally I found Dr. Neulander. I have been his patient for more than 10 years now and he has helped me immensely. Due to the fact that I have BC/BS insurance I may have to find another physician. This is not fair and unfortunately due to financial concerns I will have to comply with this decision if action is not taken. I think that it is prudent for Excellus to put aside its decision to dismiss Dr. Robert Neulander as a preferred physician and to reinstate his privileges with that organization.

I have been a patient for 25 years and i think it is not fair what the Insurance company is doing. Who is caring for the patient, if we depended on Insurance Companies for health care we all would be very sick. Please reconsider, and be notified of what a impact this has on patients.

I have been going to Dr. Robert Neulander for over 13 years I cannot imagine going to any other Doctor. He is the most compasionate person (dr) I have ever met. I have been given the best care possible by him and his staff. I'm disgusted with the health care industry!

Dr. Nulander and his team have provided my husband and I with the most precious gift in the word. Our beautiful boy! With trying to conceive for over four years, we finally did it! Dr. Neulander and Gary the sonogram guy saw us ever week to make sure that my uterus was growing significantly enough to handle it. With me having a unicornual uterus, they knew the right steps and they knew how to handle the situation and how not to let anything that they knew upset us. If it was and important decision that needed to made they informed us in the proper way. The put me on bed rest for 16 weeks. Than when ready delivered a beautiful baby boy. I will be forever greatful for Dr. Nulander. Now with this observe of him being removed by Excellus is just saying to the public that Excellus does not think that the highest level of service to their patience is not worth it! Well you can look into my little boys eyes and just think, he would be only in your imagination if it were not for one man, Dr. Nuelander!

I was a patient of Dr. Neulander. I was diagnosed with some medical problems in December 2008. Dr Neulander scheduled me for surgery in January 2009. I was forced to cancel my surgery and transfer to a different doctor because I am an excellus carrier with no out of network coverage.

I have been a patient of Dr Neulander and his staff for many years and have always been very happy with the quality of medical care provided. It infuriates me that Excellus has dropped him as a provider just as my husband's employer made the decision to switch to Excellus for our insurance coverage. I will not be leaving his care and request that Excellus BCBS reconsider their decision.

Dr. Neulander has done so much for me and My family. He delivered 2 of my brothers and helped my mother with breast cancer. I am now forced to go to a new Doctor, and i'm very scared. I have seen Dr. Nuelander for about 16 years now.. and i will miss him very much. It's very hard to find a doctor that you can trust. He, in my mind, was one of the best doctors I've ever been too. Dr. Nuelander and his staff will be greatly missed.

It is very difficult to find such a doctor that you feel comfortable with it took me a lot of time and research to find Dr. Neulander and I am dismayed that my insurance company is telling me that they won't cover me for the care that I've come to expect the past several years. It infuriates me that I PAY Excellus BC/BS for my insurance coverage, thus meeting their needs, but when I need them, they won't cover me!

I have been going to Dr Neulander office for years, for my ob-gyn visits, surgeries, and now I am in the middle of a year and half of a fertility situation. At Choices West everything is right in the same office. Now I have to find another specialist, which is very difficulty because I have to start from scratch. A lot of time and effort wasted, when there is no need for it. Why doesn’t Excellus come get in our shoes, to see what is like!!!! Change is very difficult in certain situations…..

I am a past OB/ICN nurse married to a physician. Dr. Neulander delivered my grandson several months ago and I was present for the labor and delivery. His skills as a physician and his professionalism were unsurpassed. Shame on you BC/BS. This is certainly the type of physician you should continue to support.

I have dealt with an Army of Doctors throughout my life. My experience s with Dr Neulander being one of my best dealings. He not only saved my life, but was concerned and considerate of the quality of that life. This principal is lacking in the medical world as a whole. From deep in my heart I thank you Dr Neulander. I have been going to Dr. Neulander for several years and I think he and his office staff are wonderful. I have worked in the insurance field in the past, and I believe what Excellus is doing is criminal. I am so thankful that I have health insurance through a different company; unfortunately, there are women not as fortunate who now have to find a different provider because Excellus is trying to dictate their health coverage and care. I hope this gets resolved soon so that Dr. Neulander can begin again to focus his energy on what really matters - patient care.
