Achieving a Democratic and Fair Dog Policy

Dear Joe Mihevc,

We are your constituents, assorted members of the Wychwood/Hillcrest community. We are very interested in how local park decisions can hinder or help us  connect with our neighbours, build positive community relations and allow us to exercise and ensure the health of our local dogs as extended members of our healthy family networks.

We continue to invest our good faith in democratic decision making processes but over time the local process appears to be side stepping our concerns.

Specifically:

None of the undersigned received adequate notice (or any notice at all) of a consultation that recently occured regarding the use of the Wychwood Barns fenced-in dog area. Important decisions were thereby made without any of our input, a necessary pre-requisite to a fair and just democratic decision-making process.

We have an organized presence on hillcrestdogs.ca, we regularly read posted signs, so how can it be that our input was omitted?

The validity of the arrived at "compromise" decision is tainted by the undemocratic nature of its underlying process. We the undersigned strongly request that you revisit the recent decisions regarding the area usage, and seriously engage us in a renewed and responsive community based process.

We ask for a considered and serious response from you, our elected representative.

Yours truly,
