Dogs Need a BIG backyard if owners never take them out!

Target:
Animal Cruelty Act
Sponsored by:
I've seen so many dogs enclosed in their small backyards and never taken outside. They run around in circles, cry all day, and never interact with other dogs, or for that matter, humans. This is CRUELTY! How could it not be? But the law states otherwise...Please join me in passing a new law that states all owners who are inclined to leave their fury friends shunned from the outside world have a big enough backyard so dogs won't go crazy!

You shouldn't have a dog if you do not plan to socialize it, let it play with other dogs and kids and other people and have space to play and live and run. Give the dog a HUGE backyard!!!

I will never understand why a person gets a dog and then leaves him in the back yard of any size. Animals need affection just like humans. Have you forgotten that they are God's creatures also? Think about it! How would you like to be confined to a small space with no sign of love or attention? Not much, right? I can't imagine leaving a dog outside. My dogs have all been members of my family. Why don't you take your dog for a long walk? Good exercise for both dog and owner. Bottom line, give them a big space to run if that is the best you can do.

People should not even be allowed to own an animal if they can not provide a safe and healthy enviroment for it which includes a good sized yard and daily walks. Being kept in a small yard only increases the potential for aggressive and territorial behaviour which we then blame on the animal if someone gets hurt! Owners are the ones responsible. Health and protection for the animals should be regulated and monitored through law to help prevent such cases and stop the cruel conditions some animals are forced to live under.
