Don't flip 1960 S Maple

Target:
Douglas Q Gale, Destiny-98, REO America, et al
Sponsored by:
Since Destiny-98, a tax lien purchasing operation, has taken over 1960 S Maple, Ann Arbor, Michigan, the buildings have been subjected to a steady demolition from the inside out...on March 21st, '08, the the chicken house was simply burned down...

We, the undersigned, urge the current owners to cease "improving" the property and enter into open, good faith negotiations to sell the property back to its owner of the previous 30 years.

appalling, unjust, and downright wrong to take someones home without the offer to sell it back to the original owner.

For 30 years he lived there and someone swipes it out from under him for only $6k. That's unfair and wrong.

Peter is a good person, he should be able to live in what has been his home for decades. Have a heart

PETER BEAL IS A HIGHLY REGARDED AND LONG TERM ANN ARBOR CITIZEN AND DESERVES MORE THAN JUST CRASS COMMERCIAL JUDGMENT IN SORTING OUT A FAIR AND EQUITABLE SETTLEMENT.

Peter seems like a very grounded or earthy person. Everyone enjoyed seeing his chickens & I'm sure his eggs (& fruniture)were top-notch. Sure hope he can get it back! Cheers to you, Peter!

Keep an artist in town. Don't flip 1960 Maple.

Dear Mr. Gale: Please reconsider your actions. Surely you can find a way to act honorably and return this property, though it is worth so much less now. Barbara Wilson

Destiny-98: It's still possible to fairly and equitably resolve this dispute, and it's in your hands. Please, do the right thing.

Way to drop the ball Washtenaw County. The end result is not going to benefit anyone...so sad.

I've seen the property in question, and I am told that it's development potential is small to none. Why do you insist on destroying the home of someone who has lived there for 30 years? Why do you not enter negotiations with Mr. Beal for his repurchase of that land?

The cognoscente know that Peter is a living treasure. If he can arrange a reasonable deal, why wouldn't you accept it? It seems that there are partisans with enough where-with-all for him to do that. H.

This whole process that has been carried out by this company has been ridiculous. The City of Ann Arbor should have stepped up and helped Mr. Beal.

Dear Doug Gale: I understand that 'business is business'. Unfortunate that you've chosen to also be 'heart-less' until all options for recovery by the former owner have been exhausted. Stu Simon

Peter is a superb craftsman and a nice human being. He has used 1960 S. Maple as his place for creating masterpieces in wood for the past 30 years. No one else in town does the quality of woodwork that Peter does. It is a disgrace that his home and workshop are being dismantled without permits. Please take the high road and enter into negotiations so that Peter can buy his place back at a reasonable price. My 7 year-old daughter and I used to visit Peter, to see him and the chickens. She is very upset that the chicken house was destroyed.

For many years my wife and I took pleasure each time we passed 1960 South Maple Road and saw the well cared for, free range chickens running around the property by the side of the road. We also enjoyed eating the best eggs we've ever had that we bought in the most enjoyable and trusting manner from Peter Beal. We were very saddened when he lost the property and hope that you will negotiate in good faith so he can return to his unique way of life which created pleasure for many people. The callous way your company is treating the property is exemplified by your burning down the chicken house and underscoring how you have destroyed a supply of humanely produced and delicious egg for those of us who had the pleasure to buy them from Mr. Beal.

In the spirit of doing good to our fellow man, there needs to be an arrangement to return this home to Peter Beal.

Let's respect craftsmen: It is bad business to displace them.

Peter Beal is a positive force in this community, and an incredible craftsman. The tax lien folks add absolutely no value to the universe... nothing. The principles of that company should be aware that their existence on this planet has been completely for naught. Zero.
