On January 5, 1943 Americans lost one of the greatest scientist in our century, Dr. George Washington Carver. Known for saving southern agriculture during a collapsing economy he is the first person other than a President to receive a national monument. His innovations in science contributed much to the agricultural industry worldwide and played a major role in America's economic recovery.
Dr. Carver's humanitarianism and breakthroughs against racial injustice shows he was a trail blazer and forerunner to Dr. Martin Luther King. His ability to secure an administrative position under overwhelming segregation speaks to the historic change in America for racial equality. Your signature joins public support for proclamations, resolutions and referendum that leads to a national holiday in his honor.
