Driving course in college!

Target:
US department of Education
Sponsored by:
To whom it may concern (The department of Education),

This petition involves driving. Something that is an important form of transportation in everyday life for those of age...especially here in the United States. Many high schools offer an optional after school drivers education which however costs a lot of money. I have known close friends whom are in their 20s and still walk and take the bus due this was too expensive for their parents to afford...not to mention their parents never had the time to set aside 50 hours and teach them.

This is why I believe Driving should be a college course. Perhaps maybe split in a 2 part course. I also know many people, myself being one, of whom struggle with getting in the car everyday due to still feeling a bit inexperienced at driving. In college, classes such as keyboarding, first aid, and many others similar to this are offered as credits. Why not have driving? This would be a class for people whom already have their permit and license and just want to brush up/learn new techniques or get more comfortable with the wheel. This would be something worth investing in and would possibly prevent more accidents as well.

We the undersigned,

Ask that you allow colleges and Universities to add driving as a credited class for those with driver's licenses. This class would be something for those who are nervous drivers or feel that they need more practice behind the wheel but have no one to teach them. Offering at a college for credit, similar to classes such as keyboarding or first aid, would be extremely helpful and convenient. Not only would it allow many people to become more confident in their driving, it would also make the roads a lot safer. It would also be more convenient then having to take and pay for the course at  a separate driving school.

thank you for taking the time to read this.

sincerely,

the undersigned
