Mitt Romney is unfit to lead due to his participation in the morally reprehensible practice of posthumous Baptism. In 1993 Governor Romney participated in his family's posthumous Baptism of his father-in-law Edward Davies who had resisted the Romney's repeated efforts at conversion during his lifetime. Mr. Davies was an avowed atheist who had made his views and preferences known to his family. Such blatant disregard of religious freedom, one of the cornerstones of human dignity, disqualifies Governor Romney from holding the highest elected office in this nation.
We, the undersigned, are writing to you out of our outrage at your having participated in the posthumous Baptism of your father-in-law, Edward Davies. As you are aware Mr. Davies was a lifelong avowed atheist. Over the course of his lifetime he resisted numerous attempts by you and your family to be converted to your faith. As Americans we believe that religious freedom, including the freedom to not practice any religion, is a fundamental human right and essential to human dignity. To deny any human this freedom, including a deceased individual who lacked any recourse, is so intensely against the very fabric of this nation that we believe, by virtue of your deeply un-American conduct, you are unfit to serve as President of the United States. We therefore ask that you withdraw your name from consideration for the 2012 Republican nomination for this office.
