Our Director worked for over a year trying to find someone in Child Protective Services or Law Enforcement to help a 12 yr. old boy who was being gravely abused. The details of his abuse are shocking! Medical evidence of the abuse is in our files. The neighbors had been reporting abuse as had various other people over six years! The people who had the authority to help the children, did not. The boy ran away over and over and was returned to his abusers over and over by law enforcement. He ended up at the children's emergency shelter five times....once when his adoptive father said he didn't want him, and other times when neighbors brought him in. Each time he was picked up by law enforcement and returned to the abusers. The last time he ran away...after three days of staying with neighbors....and no one looking for him....the Administrator took the abused child to the State Child Protective Commissioner near Austin, TX where she was certain she would find help for the child. Instead she was arrested. A felony and two misdemeanors have been held over her head for the past six months and the beautiful facility stands empty. Please help. The facility can't reopen until these charges are dismissed. She was motivated by a desire to help a desparate child no one else would help.
