Emancipation Day (September 22)

Emancipation Day (September 22)

Target:
Making September 22 be a National Holiday
Sponsored by:
I think September 22 should be a recognized national Holiday. It is the day that President Lincoln issued the Emancipation proclamation. I think it should be recognized because it was actually the start of the civil rights movement. It would celebrate the human race as a whole and not by where you come from or what your skin is like.

I celebrate diversity and having a holiday that supports this not just for race but for religion and sexual orientation would be lovely. M

it's very important for the new generation of America especially the African Americans to acknowledge and learn more about their ancestors' history of sufferings and oppression not to build contempt and hatred towards white people NO but to understand and appreciate their ancestors' will ,strength and determination to fight for their freedom through learning more about Malcom X. Martin luther king and such great leaders.
