Enact bill to protect radio collered research bears

The MN DNR has, up to this point, refused to outlaw killing collared research bears during the MN bear hunting season. This has led to the loss of 6 research bears since 2000. Each of these animals is PRICELESS to the researchers. The loss of even one of them can set the Wildlife Research Center (www.bearstudy.org) work back years.

Let's use the public interest generated by Lily the Black Bear to highlight the wonderful work that the Wildlife Research Center in Ely, MN is doing, which is being given freely to us to enjoy and learn from. It is horrifying to contemplate the potential loss of either Lily or her cub in the next MN bear hunting season! Let's convince the MN DNR of the unpopularity of their stance regarding this issue with Lily's many Facebook fans. In addition, please consider contacting the DNR individually to urge them to rethink their ill-considered refusal to outlaw the killing of collared research bears during bear hunting season in Minnesota.
