End Annual Canadian Seal Hunt!

On April 2, 2007 the biggest mammal slaughter was authorized by the Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. 270,000 baby seals, between the ages of 12 days to 12 weeks old were brutally slaughtered, the vast majority of these seals did not have a chance to eat their first solid meal or take their fist dive. Fishermen shot and clubbed them to death for their precious skin. This year 250,000 seals were born and out of these 250,000 a huge percentage of them died due to the melting of the ice where they were at, since they hadn't even learned how to swim they drowned. PLEASE, help us make a difference. Sign this petition so we can send it to Prime Minister Harper and express our unconformity about this matter to hopefully end this horrible event for ever. If you want to take action, please sign this petition and notify your friends , family, and others about it! Come back daily, or even weekly to sign again! Please e-mail the Canadian government to express your opinion .
Thank you for your support ! :)

Here is a sample letter, feel free to forward it to Canadian Government addresses:

Dear Prime Minister Harper,

With your re-election, Canadians are expecting many changes.I am a troubled Canadian, requesting change in our barbaric country.  I would like to formally state that I am horrified with the fact that the Canadian Government has allowed, and even promoted, the murder of hundreds and thousands of harp seal pups, and tens of thousands of gray seal pups each year! The images floating around the internet disgust me in every way humanly possible.
The seal population is slowly decreasing, and soon to come, they will be known as an endangered species. You opted to become the Prime Minister of Canada, so start listening to Canadians! End these massacres now and thousands of seal will be safe and free of a painful, cruel death.
Seal-watching tours could bring in millions of dollars to the Canadian economy, and with our already suffering economy, it couldn%u2019t hurt to rack in a few extra million. I know tons of Americans who would love to experience Canadian wild-life at its best. I%u2019m Canadian and I know I would pay good money to see a living seal in its natural habitat. Canada is looked at as one of the most peaceful countries, yet with an annual seal hunt on our hands, don%u2019t you find it hard to believe that Canada is %u2018peaceful?%u2019
I urge you to stop the slaughter of seals and instead begin to protect seals and the ocean ecosystems of which they are an important part of. Thousands and thousands of Canadians, and people worldwide, are well aware of the annual Canadian seal hunts. Thousands refuse to visit Canada in hopes to stop such violent acts of slaughter. By putting an end to these massacres, Canada could greatly profit and increase tourism.
Canada needs to stop hunting these beautiful creatures, and begin protecting them. We have already lost a vast majority of the beloved polar bear, if we continue these hunts, what will be left of the arctic? Please end these massacres, protect the seals and bring smiles to thousands of faces.
Please take action as soon as possible.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

It is time for you to realize that by doing nothing about this situation, the seal population is slowly decreasing, and soon to come, they will be known as an endangered species.  Our world is slowly dying, our animals are becoming endangered and you%u2019re doing nothing about it?
Climate change is making the sea ice that seal pups need unreliable. The Precautionary Approach to wildlife management requires that you end the massacres now. You may be the prime minister of Canada, but that doesn%u2019t give you some sort of free pass to say %u2018I%u2019ll do what I want, and I%u2019ll fix what I want.%u2019 You opted to become the Prime Minister of Canada, so start listening to Canadians!
