Republican Presidential nominee John McCain has gone increasingly negative in his campaign, resulting in a rise in disturbing remarks from rally supporters and diversion from issues critical to the nation. Regardless of whether you support the senator or his opponent, Barack Obama, the current tenor of the McCain campaign casts a pall over the political process.
Ask the senator to finish out the race to the White House by taking the high road. As a respected member of both the Senate and military he has the opportunity to restore recently lost credibility and do his part to help heal a nation that's become increasingly divided in recent weeks.

Dear Senator McCain,
We, the undersigned, respectfully request that you rise above the negative tactics that have increasingly characterized your campaign. As you yourself have seen, they've helped incite repugnant behavior from some of your supporters, creating a potentially dangerous atmosphere.
Instead we ask that you campaign on your record as a U.S. Senator and decorated member of the military, as well as on your vision for the future of America. You have the opportunity to rise above the current climate, right now, and in doing so quell the disturbing tide rising within a segment of your supporters.
We signed the "Ask Senator McCain to Go Positive" petition!

If you are going to be the future leader of this great country, be a role model, a gentleman and a mensch.
Enough of the cheap shots and the negativity already.

I believe he should withdraw and let the better man win.Follow Hilary back to where he came from!As for as his wife is concerned, she just wants to host parties in the White House for all her rich friends. They do not care about middle class Americans! His wife made $4million this year.

Senator McCain has allowed a volatile atmosphere to take hold of his campaign and many members of the far right. Senator Obama is already in a precarious position as a progressive candidate of color. Out of respect for his life, Senator McCain, you need to end this NOW.

Sen. McCain and his wife both promised at the start of the campaign that there would NO, nada, zip, non, nyet ...negative campaigning from there side. LIVE UP TO YOUR PROMISES McCains! Your campaign has been full of lies, inuendo's and simply put "crap". It is disgusting. I used to admire you for the "maverick " you were. You were a likeable due. Flush that feeling. ( Feel a theme here yet? ) You have ruined yourself, everyone on your staff and lowered the respect rate of the USA in world.

If John McCain is truly an honorable man, then his words should speak as loud as his actions. Positive words will calm down a crowd and allow them to consider his carefully thought out position rather than trying to incite people into an angry mob. Remember, we must come together after the election to get our country back on track. Harsh, negative words remain in people's minds

Leading by example is important. You want to lead people to respect and honor one another.

This is important to me for one simple reason, if people are expected to vote based on truth, issues, and where the candidate stands, then we need to be free of those distractions that simply keep us blinded to the truth because our focus is elsewhere. This has been the case with politics since the begining of time. What is wrong with the simple truth and presenting that truth without distractions? I find the answer a simple one and I believe we all know what that is. Please Senator McCain, keep it positive especially now, when people are so distracted by those personal issues that burden all of us today. And yes, I have sent this message to the Obama camp as well!

I am embarrassed that you are running for President of the United States. Though I never intended to vote for you, you have lost any respect I once had for you by both you and your VP candidate's continued vicious lying remarks and encouragement of voters to rebel against one of the most caring, driven, inspiring, devoted American this country could hope to have running for President of the United States of America.

Shame on you, Senator McCain! Your and Governor Palin's "attack dog strategies" are EXACTLY why we need "CHANGE" now! - Why aren't you putting "Country First"? Senator Obama has been running the campaign he promised to run - why can't you?

Using negative epithats, encouraging racism, violence, refusing to denounce any of it, only undoes all work done to overcome racial hatred in this country. It is a president's job to go beyond racism, hatred, anger to build a nation of peace, prosperity, and McCain isn't doing that, nor ready to do that. He must end this hunger for continuing the hate cycle. He has the power to do it and must. Stop NOW John.

When I predicted you and Obama going into this campaign, I thought that it would have been fought on the issues that matter the most. Instead, all I see is negative attacks against Obama and some people in rallys saying these outrageous this about him. Whomever is the president should unite this country and not devide it. I urge you to point out the differences in a respectful manner and this includes Sarah too.

Senator McCain, I believe you can run a campaign that respects your opponent while simultaneously delivering your own message. The negativity has spread among some of your supporters, setting a volatile tone. Please diffuse the situation by going positive today. Thanks, Senator.
