End Senseless US Census Practices

The US Census Bureau has the all-important job of counting US residents as input to Congressional representation, planning for essential community services like healthcare and public safety, to name just a few purposes. Like many governmental agencies, this organization has certain fiduciary responsibilities with respect to privacy, public safety and use of public funds. Survey completion deadlines seemed to have taken priority over these responsibilities, resulting in significant harm to US Census workers, as well as US residents. The watchdog organization http://www.mytwocensus.com/ has much work to do in tracking this Commerce Dept. bureau's activities.

A number of recent  media accounts give some sense of the havoc the Bureau's questionable policies and practices have caused:

What will you do to help reveal and heal the US Census Bureau's unacceptable employment and consumer safety practices? Sign now and write to your Congressman. Thank you for your support. Our nation's public safety depends on it.
We, the undersigned, hereby reclaim our rights to hold the US Census Bureau accountable for its actions, both good and bad.  We demand investigation, transparency and correction of questionable practices and policies that have or may endanger the general public, as well as past, current and future US Census employees. This country's counting its residents should not result in the counters or counted being harmed. We demand that practices that compromise the Bureau's ability to recruit and retain competent employees be eradicated, as well as any policies that create monetary waste through duplicated or otherwise unproductive work. We support the transformation of the Bureau's behavior to more closely approximate responsible private industry's, especially as related to creating empowered, well-trained employees who are required to think, not just follow orders, as if they are inmate workers in some Census Bureau Prison. We hold these government accountability rights to be self-evident for corporate entities, and as fundamental as the US Constitution's truths of Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness for individuals.
